Forum Time

Post by Scatman » Tue Sep 02, 2008 7:56 am

Is anyone else having the forum report the incorrect time to you when you or someone else posts? I have my profile set to GMT - 4 which I'm pretty sure is EST time (that's what it's always been set at since I made my forum account). It was fine until last weekend when the web page was constantly down.
Is anyone else having the same issue or is it just me? :P

I concur. Time is not correct for GMT-7 here either. A recent change.
I checked the phpbb config, it is still set to GMT-6. So unless the entire site moved to Germany, something is off.

Not a big deal. eh?
So the whole "view NEW posts" thing doesn't mean much? Cuz when I blip out, crash, or somehow lose connection and no longer can see the posts "since my last visit", now I have to count on my fingers the hours that MIGHT be new posts vs those that are not?
It's a big deal to some. Otherwise it wouldn't be mentioned. Not to mention if the Site admin doesn't know about it, maybe we're being helpful.

The view NEW posts still works for me , I usually log out after looking at posts so that when I return I should get any new posts since my last visit.
Hmmmm, the only problem I have had with this site so far has been some long load times (like the other day), but has since been fine since the server restart. Guess I have just been lucky and not have had blips, or crashes.
Don't get me wrong, the time of the forums should reflect the correct time no doubt.

Sorry if my post sounded a little terse ;) I am arguing with an entire development team as we speak about why their half-ass non-intuitive designs are shit, and need to be changed. Being a dyed-in-the-wool QA guy, near-perfection is the only ends I will accept. Time can be off by a minute, but two minutes? Unacceptable! hee hee
So I get a little passionate. ;)

Btw, just to really be annoying... the server really is perfectly in time. Somewhere... Samoa, I think. ;)
