How to use UTF-8 caracters ?

Post by Phidium » Wed Sep 24, 2008 12:18 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to translate, into the French langage, the description of the Spell named "Sprint" using the UTF-8 caracters.
In game, it only shows "squares" and not the French letters like é à ç è â ê...
Do you have an idea how to resolve that issue ?
Thx a lot for your help :)
P.

My guess is that mysql is using latin as the character set for the table..
maybe this would help..?

Hi Boddyhole and thank you for your answer :)
I have already tried to set from latin1_swedish_ci to latin1_general_ci and latin1_general_cs, but it doesn't work. Same with utf8_general_ci and utf8_unicode_ci
I'll take a look at your link, perhaps i'll learn more ? :)
Thx again.

Bobbydole, not Boddyhole, but that's ok.
Did you update the spell name after you changed the set to utf8?

Hello :)
Ok, i've tried to update the spell name before and after i set to utf8, and it does not work :(
I still have "squares" replacing the French letters.
Perhaps is it because the server is in English ? will LE answer me ? ;)
Have a nice day :)
Byeeee
