`titles` not displaying

Post by John Adams » Sat Oct 04, 2008 11:30 am

I got excited for a moment seeing this screenshot from 2005 ~grin~ and set a title for my character. However in game, nothing shows up. Debugging, I do see it loading in SetCharacterTitles(), so I am interested if this supposed to still be working - or what I am missing to get them to display.

They actually changed the way titles worked since I worked on the Emu the first time. Whenever I restarted it I haven't added the feature in. Needless to say, it is easy I just havent gotten to it yet.

When Titles come up to bat, I'd like to make a request for something that I always hated in EQEmu...

The forced, oddly named * GM Impossible * tags that you could never (really) get rid of.

I'd like for us to be able to assign a Title of GM <whatever> to our GMs via the Titles system, and NOT have the World assume a level of GM'ship based on admin_status. So I can be status 0, 100, or 255, and in /who, I will always look like a normal player. And only if I choose in my P:ersona menu to show that I am a GM, will I show up to anyone as a GM (at least in name).

I am not sure of GMs have different color names like in EQ, since I do not think anyone has ever seen an actual GM in EQ2.

I still have my live dev picture:

This was quite recent, before I sold my pally. This was still during RoK.

Heh that live dev name sounds like an old eqemu dev: Kathgaar (or was it Kathgarr)?

/bump!

Here's another request regarding titles... when we get back to implementing them, let's rename the `titles` table to `character_titles` so we can be sure this table is identifiable with other character-related data (dynamic vs static world data).

Thanks!

I can confirm the CSRs have purple names, and the title <Customer Service Representative>, so I don't see why GMs wouldn't have different colored names and titles as well.

Arremis, that's a good observation, never thought about looking for that. Might be apart of the flags that hold roleplaying, anonymous, etc.
