EQ2Emulator Alpha Released!

Post by LethalEncounter » Sat Oct 13, 2007 4:44 pm

We have finally released the code that we have been working on for the last few months. Remember that it is mainly for developers at this point and is meant as a foundation, not a finished product. Eventually we would like to get it working as close to live as possible, but it will take quite a bit of time to get there. This release works with live. If you want to ensure that you can play using the emu, you must either make a backup of your eq2 directory or refrain from patching until the expansion comes out next month. This is the last time we will get it working with live until Kunark comes out.
Anyways, to get the code you will either need to download it from SourceForge's SVN server:
http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=140686
OR download it directly here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=140686
If you choose to download it directly from SF, you can choose to either use a compiled version, or you can compile it yourself. After you get the code, you will need to visit http://www.eq2emulator.net/index.php?page=14 and create a new account before you can start playing. If you want to play on someone else's server you will need to only register a login account. If you want to run your own server you will need to register both.
Be sure to visit the tutorial forum for information on how to setup the server.

I updated the code on sourceforge's svn and I updated the releases on SourceForge as well. This fixes several bugs and problems that people were having. If you are having problems try to get the latest code before asking for assistance.

Items and spawns will be partially available by next year. We need to harvest all the information and that will take some time. Just be patient.

Items and Spawns? Cool, just one question though. I hate to seem ungrateful, unpatient or anything, but when do you guys think this Emu will have Mobs, and quests?
