Quest Step Icon

Post by Scatman » Sun Dec 14, 2008 8:39 am

LE, is there a way to change or set a certain quest's step icon? I know for a QuestStepKill step, the icon is a skull and bones, but sometimes they are different. Also, for other steps such as ObtainItem steps, there are icons as well, like roots if you have to harvest roots. I was looking through the source and it looked (to me lol) that there was a lot of support for them.

Looks like there is :). I modified the AddQuestStep LUA functions to take an icon parameter, and it's all working. Do you know where I can, or if I can, find the icons? Are they stored in some VPK or something?

The actual icon images are probably in the icon_is#.dds located in the UI/Default/images/icons folder within the EQ2 directory. Each file has 36 icons in it. I used these files at one point to find the icons for items and it would be my best guess that the same ID's could be used for the quest steps. Can't remember off hand if the ID's were zero based or not though, don't think they are but it has been a long time sence I played with them.
Looking at them 737 should be a brown leather strap, or 736 if it is zero based. Again it has been a long time sence I looked at these and they may not even be the same icons the quest journal uses but it is worth a shot.
EDIT: The ID's are in fact zero based 737 is a black strap while 736 is the brown strap I intended. Tested this on a quickly made generic item on my server.

Cool. I just downloaded a program to open up DDS extensions, this is neat! Thanks.
