Login server returned a fatal error : bad password

Post by Phidium » Thu Sep 18, 2008 1:47 am

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use EQ2emu 0.6, but when i run the file "EQ2World.exe", i do have an error and it's stuck at the line "World server listening on : localhost:9000" (screenshot here http://www.phidium.com/EQ2Emu.jpg )
Somebody else have tried with my server's login/password and it worked fine, so, they are working well.
I don't know where is the problem. Can you please help me ?
Thank you very much for your help.

The problem is you have the wrong password listed in your LoginServer.ini file.

I am not sure it's that simple. He gave me his server registration name/password, and I tried it on one of my servers and it worked fine. I asked him to post here in case there is something weird going on with foreign OS or characters we have not yet encountered.
Anyone else running an EQ2Emulator EQ2World.exe that is on a non-english OS? I'd like to eliminate that as a possibility, and simply blame the admin's fingers for typing wrong :)

You probably have an extra space on the end of the username or password.

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your answers and help :).
It finally worked ! the thing i did was to copy/paste the file "Worldstructs.xml" (from the 0.4 release) into the 0.6 directory and i dunno why, it worked...
Perhaps i did something else, because i have tried lots of things :)
Thx again :)
P.

Hello there, happy to be in your community =)
I have exactly the same problem: Bad Password. But I have entered exactly the same password that I have entered in the World Account Password. I don't know what to do now
I have tried with the 0.6 release; and with the files from the SVN FTP.
(Oh, I am really sorry if you find some grammar errors, I do really my best to translate correctly my messages :P)
Thanks,
Panatisis

Send me a Private Message with the contents of your LoginServer.ini file.

Did you sign up for both a server and user name account?
Are you using the correct password?
Did you see if there are any spaces in the login information as mentioned above?

I also had the same problem. I think what the issue is, the walk-through says to edit that field, but the file itself explicitly says not to edit them:
### --- This file tells world.exe what loginserver to connect to.
### --- Leave the account and password field BLANK.
