Data load Errors with SVN 179

Post by Arkaiden » Thu Dec 18, 2008 1:10 am

Hi guys,
I compiled the newest svn sources yesterday, and made some minor changes.
But when I run Eq2World.exe on my Server every Item(Bag, Weapon etc) it loads throughs an Error.
So my Question is:
Did I make a misstake or is the svn version not compatible with the database populated with 0.6.
The 0.6 Binaries work as intended.
And another question is:
I've programmed a small Item Editor, which works good so far. I can create Items and use them ingame.
But when I have a closer look to the Items table I don't think it is complete =) Of course we're in early Alpha status, but what I wanted to know is if there are any new database definitions than these of 0.6.

using the svn source you should be using the development database which is port 9102 so change that in your LoginServer.ini from port 9101 to 9102 and it will load the changes failing that i have a post or 2 here that has a link to my clean 0.7 database use that i just updated it yesterday

These "tricks" are found using Search.
You had errors starting eq2world with items. I simply put in "item error eq2world" in search, and look what showed up?

Please start using Search instead of posting new topics. If you feel you have used Search and have no results, try using words in the Search box. Most issues have already been discussed and thoroughly explained.

OK, John your right, I should have done a search before.
I looked the forums because I thought that this kind of information would be in a sticky post and well .. they weren't.
And on the other side, I'm kind of reviving the forums =)
Seems quite empty at the moment.
I think there should definately be more Stickies.
For Example the hoe to create a spawn, or All Admin commands can be fount here etc. (I know they are in the wiki, but a sticky that is easy to find that tells me where to look is much better in my Opinion)
just my 2 cents
To sum it up: Yes I will use the search button =)

Yes, you are indeed. =)
There are not stickies, and there is not a flood of conversation here because this is not WoW or MMOwned, this is a quiet little project that barely half a dozen individuals are working on. If you feel there needs to be more front-end documentation, by all means write articles in the Wiki - a community-created documentation system. If devs did nothing but write documentation, there would be no development. Look at it that way.
And btw, everything you mention is well documented on these forums and the Wiki... creating spawns, every GM command. We are not going to duplicate every Wiki article because some people are too lazy to look at the Wiki. Not trying to be argumentive, but your reasoning is absolutely unfounded - that we should spend extra time double-documenting things just for you. That is absurd.
