Zexis ol buddy! I know I rehash this every few months, so here is this quarter's installment of "Why are our zone names not matching sites like Allakhazam's?"

I wrote a script to parse alla's zonelist.html, and compare it to our zones table - the initial goal was to record what expansion a zone was part of, it's "type", and min and max recommended levels in our table for future use. In doing so, of course, I found tons of zones that cannot be found by their "description", using the Allakhazam names.

Now I do not assume Alla's matches SOE - so here's a list for you to review and tell me - What you put in TessDB, or what we had before, are absolutely what is >in the SOE live game< and Alla's list is WRONG. That's what I want to hear, unless it is not the truth of course

Clearly put, I want our zone descriptions matching SOE precisely, not customized to make more sense blah blah. I can automatically update the current zones if you think this list is wrong. Let me know your thoughts, once again.

How I love this request!

Alright, the problem here lies with two things.

1.) Allakhazam's list is atrocious. They often do not have the correct name listed for zones or have some zones listed multiple times. One of the big offenders are zone names with articles in the front. Quite often the zone names on alla remove or add The/A/An when there is/isn't one in the Game. ie- It isn't 'The Underrot Caverns', It is 'Underrot Caverns'.

2.) there are some zones which I just don't have information on. Several of these zones no longer exist (old holiday zones, expansion lead-in zones, old quest zones) or require quests to enter, and as such I can't gather the data I need to add them.

Please remember, Allakhazam is a wiki- nothing more, nothing less. Not everything there is correct (honestly more is incorrect than correct). However, I will go through the list and make any corrections that are correct, however I doubt there are many, since I used the Alla list to make my zone list initially.

Heh I thought you'd love this. And yeah I figured Alla's being community-driven has the high risk of being incorrect, or badly interpretted. If there is a "real" game zone list, maybe from SOE(?), I can use then that would be perfect. I guess the whole "a one room apartment" vs "Freeport: 1 Room Apartment" is stuck in my head and refuses to leave But I will live with it, just drives me nuts sometimes.

I am not so much interested in the description as getting the other info updated - but I am not confident that is accurate either anymore lol... but we'll change it as necessary.

Just to give you an idea- I have looked through 100 on the list and 45 of them I need logs for, 32 of them have incorrect names, 1 zone doesn't exist on live yet, 1 zone doesn't exist at all and 4 were already correct in the database. I corrected 17 of them, although I can't be positive on some of them.

On a side note, several of the wrong ones were the ones you entered for the x-mas events ;op

Sara just collected a zone I had never seen before, except on that horrid Alla's list. 'The Witch's Cove'. Far as the collector says, this zone is:

Got another Zones question for ya. I see you have a few Firemyst zones set up, but not just a plain-vanilla "Firemyst Gully" zone.

According to some logs I just got, there is a Firemyst (only) zone, and a Firemyst: Foul Odor (or whatever).

Will you confirm, and I can add just "Firemyst Gully" to the zone list?

Z2, cuz I like stealing your thunder... I noticed when sychronizing my 5582L client with my newer 5709L, a few new VPKs were detected. After snooping around my test server, I found a list of potential "new" zones, for your approval - and clarification

I stuffed these into the Dev server, if you want to look them over. I didn't set coords, since I don't know them. but some zones were blackness (listed below). Figure that's bad safe coords.
