Running the emulator on Linux [READ FIRST]

Post by link2009 » Fri Feb 01, 2008 9:11 pm

I've compiled a distribution list on the eq2emulator Wiki as a guide for everyone who wants to use Linux.
http://eq2emulator.net/wiki/index.php/A ... nux_Server
If your distribution is not in the list and would like a guide, please ask here!

Hi...before I begin. It´s my first time to work with Debian.
I install the mysql source and the eq2emu source on my Debian server but if I use the "make" option get I one problem. I can´t compile the World because it lose the zlib source file.
Here is my question.
How can I get it and how can I use it to compile the Server.
Thanks :D

Do you need zlib.dll or the zlib Source (.cpp / .h)?

To compile the EQ2Emu Source I need the zlib Source (.cpp/h)file.

Typing 'zlib' in Google got me many results, you should try it sometime :lol: .
http://www.zlib.net/
* zlib source code, version 1.2.3, zipfile format (570K, MD5 checksum abbd0f2b456206da5e3ffd179324413a):

Just did a read through on the instructions for Ubuntu which I'm running my wow server on.
I must say the instructions you gave, even though I haven't yet tried to compile, are a hell of
a lot easier than trying to compile and run Mangos or even Trinity for WoW.

Keep up the great work, eagerly awaiting the time I can just play on my own server :D
