NPC Movements

Post by LethalEncounter » Tue Jan 20, 2009 2:30 pm

I am going to be redoing the code that deals with NPC movements and had a question. Whenever an NPC attacks another NPC, do they both run towards each other and meet in the middle or does one run to the other?

In my limited experience, "a rat" is not angry with guards, so it will not aggro a guard - but a guard may aggro the rat. That is one scenario I believe can be controlled by Faction (yes?)

I'm trying to think of a place to go sit and watch opposing factions fight. Maybe The Ruins in Freeport? The Orcs and Guards are always beating the hell out of each other.

It may also rely on aggro radius, which I do not think is dynamic for us yet. Say an Orc's aggro radius is 50, but a guard's is 25. The orc will jump the guard, and likely be upon him before the guard realizes it. Maybe?

Hmm that's a good question if two opposing factions clash as NPCs. A good place to watch this actually would be on Queens Colony. Gonk and Durg at the tree house don't like the skeletons or goblins that run by and they certainly don't like Gonk and Durg as they clash all the time. I'm pretty sure I remember them running at each other.
