Hey, this thread is for us to talk to you guys, and from here with your questions, go to the Q+A thread! There is a lot going on behind the scenes and obviously I can't leak too much too fast, but as the Dev's are busy Dev-ing I'll fill you guys in on about whats going on, being tested, and if you want to see it released or not!
Right now their working on some things for you guys in your login servers. Some of these things are player maintenance, things that allow you to change your password (of course with the appropriate security measures). Also a list of Characters, a short description and which server they are on. In some cases Character's will be "Orphaned" meaning the server they were on went down permanently, in that case you can go ahead and delete that Character info, otherwise the info is Read Only.
They are also working on a server maintenance module, just allows the server admin to change aspects of their own server. Account info, names/passwords and descriptions. Also some cloaking mechanisms so the server won't be seen on the server pages, or that the server will show, just no info.
Lastly, is a player tracker. It tracks which player is connected to which server, so on the server list you can see who is on, where and what they're doing. Of course that info can be controlled by players and admin's (read above if your skipping).
But wait! there is more! John set up a chat server for a little while but it wasn't Ventrillo friendly, and a significant number of Dev's are Ventrillo users so that service went down faster than Obama went from Zero-President. If you wanna see that back up, here is the place to give us a shout!

The point of the Teamspeak Voice Chat Server test was that the EQ2Emulator will likely never support in-game voice chat, since the service that supports that functionality is not free, and hacking the client to work with some other service (if that is even possible) is outside the bounds of our project philosophy. So the work-around was to provide a Teamspeak (ahem, or Ventrillo ~blah~) voice chat service hosted by us for players to still get this benefit relating to our private servers.ilythor wrote:But wait! there is more! My long-term vision was to offer server admins their own "channel" on the service so their players could chat privately - or a few common/public channels related to EQ2Emulator in general. However, I have since become way too busy to continue my efforts in this, and I do not care for Ventrillo myself - and discovered no matter what service you pick, everyone will always have "a better one", so until this gets on the Community Wishlist, we're just not going to focus anymore attention on it.
