Exactly, hence why I asked the question, because I have been on test lately and haven't seen those type of NPC'sFaraden wrote:Its ONLY placed in the world when something needs to be tested, currently its not there, usually only in BETA.

Re: Continuing the "Spells" effort
You mean this guy?
Contrary to the nubs coming here thinking we don't know what we're doing... When TSO was in beta, one of our wonderful team members (Zcoretri? Zexis? One of those "Z" names...) logged into Beta, buffed up to level whatever, and collected race/class spells and traits.
Yes, we've done this before. How the hell do you think we got a table full of 4000 spells/abilities? Zams? lolz...
...just sayin... before you assume we're idiots, think.

Re: Continuing the "Spells" effort
Thought I would dredge this up because I have started in on spells once again
Just want to reiterate stuff for collectionJohn Adams wrote:While we have a decent size list of spells by their class/name, we're still lacking some details as to what the spells, ability, or arts do. How you can help is to log in your character running the EQ2PacketCollector.exe, and simply mouse-over all the icons on your spell book - starting with Abilities, Spells, Combat Arts, and Tradeskills pages. Lots of this data will be redundant, but in this case it's better to have too much than too little. Each class has their own unique abilities, but some also share common abilities. By overly collecting this data, we can match up those classes that use the same ability and reduce redundancies in our database.
While the Traits, Traditions and Achievements are a long way off in terms of server functionality, we would benefit by having this data up front as long as we're collecting spell info as well. In this, open your characters "L" page (achievements), and again mouse-over each of the icons on:
Character Development tab:
{Race} Innate Abilities
Racial Traditions
(I think you can skip the Character Traits, since I think they are the same for all characters)
{Class} Training
{Archetype} Achievements tab:
Mouse-over each one of the achievement circles.
{Class} Achievements tab:
Mouse-over each one of the achievement circles.
As long as you can see the tooltip text on your client screen, the collector will have the data in the EQ2PacketLog.log file. Please accurately name the log to something like {race}-{class}-spells.log (we call all of these "spells" for simplicity heh) and upload to the FTP site listed in the first Sticky post in this forum.
Example naming:
darkelf-wizard-spells.log or
def-wiz-spells.log etc.
As always, your help in this is greatly appreciated. Please post a followup reply here with the race/class you have completed, so others know what not to collect again. I'll go first.

Re: Continuing the "Spells" effort
le Bump!
I too am looking at some of the new raw data for GU52+ spells, and have a question. There is a field in the raw_spells table `min_class_skill_req` which is not currently in our EQ2 DB. This data exists in new (GU52) packets, so I am assuming it is still used.
Should we add this field to `spells` table and Spells processing? I know LE is dabbling with Spells now, and it is the next item on the JA Request List, so what's the consensus?
Part II: Zcoretri, did we do away with `spell_text_color` in our DB? I see it still in Raw, but seem to have a memory about it. If we need it, we should add that too?

Not sure, but I don't think the 65535 values are bad. The display values of the spell doesnt seem to change if this field is set :/

Re: Continuing the "Spells" effort
Yeah Scatman and I were talking in IRC about doing the LE magic, modifying the packet to see what happens when we change that value - but that is light-years beyond my savvy
Hopefully that's what you just tried and noticed it does nothing.
If so, maybe the data is totally wrong and the packet re-evaluated.

Yeah I would like to learn how LE does this packet sending magic for testing purposesJohn Adams wrote:Yeah Scatman and I were talking in IRC about doing the LE magic, modifying the packet to see what happens when we change that value - but that is light-years beyond my savvyHopefully that's what you just tried and noticed it does nothing.

I can re-evaluate this packet for the unknown just to make sure
