Not to derail, but I did try Shorewall, and while I got 90% of what I wanted working, the fact I am stuck with PPPoE made it a living nightmare to configure. Tried RP-PPPoE and that at least "dialed up" and got me a public IP... but I could not talk from loc to net. Got so pissed I formatted the drive.

I am looking at ClarkConnect, and teh FWBuilder packages next. I know it can be done, but I have the attention span of a fish, so it really takes me a long time to get something done. ;)

Error loading Quests/ScaleYard/paying_homage_to_the_past.lua:115: unexpected symbol near ')'

Seriously, this needs to stop. No reason for this after my pointing it out 20 times.

And what in god's name is up with the epic Script headers? In no way do we need all that info - unless that is just a little notepad you're using to learn stuff. If that's the case, please use Notepad and not our scripts. :)

Designed Quest Header is no more than:

Code: Select all

--[[
	Quest Template
	Script Name	: a_puppy_for_your_potion.lua
Script Purpose	: Handles the quest, "A Puppy for Your Potion"
	Script Author	: Xanibunib
	Script Date	: 2009.03.13

        Zone : The Scale Yard
Quest Giver : Brood Matron Vrim Malthyk
        QuestID #	: 142
	Preceded by : None
Followed by : He Said, he said (He_said_he_said.lua)
--]]
...which is perfect. So I had to ask. :)

LE, do these do you any good? If not, I will delete them. But does that size mean I had 848MB used? That's way high for what I'm used to seeing, but this is Linux... not sure how optimized things are or if it'd be different. Suspicious of a memory leak ;)

I'm sure core dumps might be useful for someone, but I never bother learning how to use them to debug. So they are useless to me, and yup that was 850 MB :P

Ok, I'll ditch the core.* files, and take a look at the Win32 version to see how much memory it's eating up.

Do you happen to know if Linux eq2world should be using more memory than Win32? I wouldn't think so, cuz you know everyone says Linux is so much uberer than Windows ;)

Side Note: So far, almost everyone has told me running eq2world on Linux is SO MUCH BETTER than it was on a similarly configured Win32 box. Movement is smoother, load times much faster, etc... but some of it might also be the fact my MySQL is no longer a VM.

It shouldn't use more memory on linux.

I can fix it, just wanted to blast you because your errors are so few and far between now. Just no fun anymore :(
