I didn't know that about the zone table, I'll have to look at that when my database works locally (Wamp broke some things with the new MySql updates...) anyways it makes sense what you're saying John, that is a lot of work for 2 1/2 coders that are both busy themselves.

Theres no way to dig up what items and such were present in an expansion, just zones, quest, etc. Maybe a good hard search on EQ2Wiki and I can find a list of expansion content, than the coders might have a foothold on supporting multiple clients knowing what data goes to what.

Just some more of my two cents.

All,

I am nearing the point to release EQ2Emulator 0.7 to the public, both sources and a new ServerPack with the last stable code from SVN (rev 1457, Dec 14, 2011).

Once that is done, I'd like to take our above list of "things to do yet", and start categorizing them into groups of easy, difficult, and hard... and assign each system (or group of systems) to a specific release starting with 0.7.1 - 0.7.9.
  • I'm planning to stick to LE's original release plan of 90% full server functionality of major systems by 0.8 (Beta), then finish the 10% remaining minor functionality in 0.9 and 1.0 release cycles.
For instance, if we think we can get Achievements, Pets and Raiding done in 0.7.1, let's mark them as such, and get to work on those asap. Then, depending on how easy, difficult, or hard these systems are, we can estimate when our 0.7.1 release will be (say, June 2012).

Not to put pressure on anyone, but I want to use this as a gauge of when we are nearing our next minor release, so we're not waiting 2+ years to push out another package like we did between 0.6.5 and 0.7.0.

Let me know your thoughts on this system. We still have to get through New Years before any real work starts here again, but this will give you something to think about while pounding beers on the 31st.

Note: SVN is about to get bumped to 1458 once I change the CURRENT_VERSION for 0.7, and we'll start 0.7.1-dev after Jan 1st, 2012.

Reading this old planning post, we're not TOO far off our release target (June 1, 2012) for 0.7.1 - considering everyone (including myself) took 4 mos to deal with real-life. We're not doing too bad, then.

And I really, REALLY mean this. It was two YEARS between LE's last release, and ours... I really do not want that to ever happen again. Please become involved in the planning, Community, and if you know any C++, DB, LUA or anything, help us out so we're not stagnant again.
