The minilogin had nothing to do with the public login. They are two seperate things. The public one verifys your account by username and password that you will set up here on this site. If you make a ML server, the accounts are verified by IP address that you put in on your local computer, and it never comunicates to the public login.

I know but I'm not a very good coder so I have to start for be ready at public release of emu ^^ Now I just make/modify Interface and update protocol, after I start to code some basic php page or programm function and at launch I finalize that and give sources if anyone want.LethalEncounter wrote:Just a reminder, this is how Techguy84 ASSUMES I am going to implement minilogin. This is just speculation and does not mean minilogin will work this way. You can speculate all you want, but my advice would be to just not worry about it until the server is released.
I just want to make a launcher having functionnality look like offi launcher because I have eard at RoK release Launcher change for a global SOE Launcher
Thx for explain ^^techguy84 wrote:The minilogin had nothing to do with the public login. They are two seperate things. Hmm so... *stupid question follows* Would this have any effect on multiple gamers useing the same I.P ? becuase in the place I'm at now there is about 6 of us so is it going to hinder us in any way ? or would that be fine if we all wanted to connect to a server ?techguy84 wrote: This in thery could be done, but LE would have to create a custom encryption that severly differs from whats on Public. The ML via IP is fine if you do the right steps to make it work. It doesnt just work with Internal IPs, but external also, so no need to make VLan or anything. One could make a PHP page and make a small apache server that your friends could swing by before connecting to the server. This page would grab thier IP, they would put in thier username and password, and the page would find that and update the IP with the proper new one. Make sure all appropriate ports are opened and everythign works fine. The procecess shouldnt take no more than 5 seconds to complete or less. Angelox, a mod over on EQEmu does this for is private server, Angelox's Classic Challenge. It works fine if you do it right and open up all neccisary ports.
Can't wait for some private server Eq 2 action !!!

@Spooler, No. There could be 1000's of gamers in the same room as you, they thing with IP addresses is that they are all going to have to be different. IF you have internal IP's (like LAN players behind a router) they will be all very simialar (192.168.2.2...3...4 ect). And Connections from the outside will vary like 64.237.212.72. Each person that can physically connect to the internet is going to have a seperate IP so nothing overlaps otherwise they couldnt connect. The only way in overlapping IP addresses is to assign them that way via Static IPs. But one or the other will not be able to even connect to the network or the internet because of the conflict.
Needless to say, you would have to see it in action but its basic Networking. No one will have conflict IP so long as a network is set up right in the first place. You can have both internal and external connections going at the same time, with no worries of overlapping IPs.

If you were to connect to an EQ2 server that was hosted on the Internet (i.e. not by you or not on a computer in your house), all your addresses would show to be the same. Such as 203.154.23.27. That is because that is the IP address of your router's public interface.
However, if you were to host your own EQ2 server internally on your network, all your addresses would show to be different, 192.168.0.2, 192.168.0.3, 192.168.0.4, etc.
Does that help?

Every computer has a different IP in theroy, its more to how its handled. As far as connection to the internet goes, each comptuer will be different. For the basic home network, this is how it works.
Computer IP 1---\
______________>Router/Modem--> Internet
Computer IP 2---/
Both Computers have a internal IP since they are behind a router. These are like 192.168.2.2. Your external IP is what your ISP assigns to your DSL/ cable modem. The router will dynamically assign internal IP addresses and distribute the internet through these connections (NAT/NAPT) Your External IP address will be something totally different than your internal ones. To find out what it is, go to www.whatismyipaddress.com and it will tell you this.
Now about the only time this will be different is for dial up users. They are a direct connect to the ISP and the internet so thier External IP is the same as thier Internal IP, unless they network off one computer to the next, then that next computer will be a internal IP that differs from the External IP.
I missed the post that LE made that the way the ML would work is my assumption. It is. LE will make it whatever way he seems fit and what works the best. I only assume this is how it may work because of the original ML that he worked on for EQEmu. If he does it a different way, then all this is null and void. Like he said. The best bet is to wait until it is done to see what it is.
We can continue to talk about Networking though, so people have a better understanding of it.
