Well you can always change the "(C/C++ Code Generation >> Enable C++ Exceptions >> Yes With SEH Exceptions (/EHa)" option to the old "(C/C++ Code Generation >> Enable C++ Exceptions >> Yes (/EHsc)". However, when I am debugging locally I have to hit retry before it uses the try/catch blocks in the code. Maybe it behaves differently via remote debugging? :/

Possibly, I'll give it a try sometime. Tess runs on a VM as you know, and crashing a dev machine in debug seems to never happen (ahem?) ;)

I found a new crash at least to my client. I had a brain fart and tried "/spawn combine remove" thinking it would remove a tagged spawn from the combine (is remove even an option? hah) and I threw myself to desktop. Oops.

Well, it was about time we had a crash! I should have kept my yap shut. Scatman was nowhere near the server, fyi...

I was logged in with Sak, and he was not doing anything I could see at the console. I was editing groundspawn_items, and did a /reload groundspawn_items. I harvested my goodies to test it, and all worked fine. I went back to the editor to do the next one, because my shiney's "?" had a bad ID.

I created a new groundspawn_entry_id of 3, added 4 "feather" types to it, and /reload groundspawn_items again. I did not get an echo in the chat box, so I checked the console. Apparently, I had crashed Queen's Colony.

... but I was not getting disconnected. So I did a Mark/Copy in the command window and when I did that, the entire World restarted. So what started out as a local zone crash ended up as a World crash, and my client never did get kicked until the World itself restarted.

We've been pretty crash-less for days at a time, but since I have been logged in and testing some new stuff, I seem to be causing a ton of zone crashes, or session crashes that boot me but not the zone - and all end in the World restarting anyway. The world comes down when I seem to try reconnecting after being booted.

I still don't know how to debug these new localized exceptions, but I'd like to give you better info on what's happening. Good news is, with the newest client, I haven't desynched once. :) yet

I am more confident today that everytime I /reload spawns in regard to changing the groundspawn_items and spawn_ground info, I crash the zone I am in, and reconnection crashes the entire world.

LE, can you reproduce this on your server hopefully? Just log in, add some records to spawn_ground, and groundspawn_items, and /reload spawns and I don't know if you just wait, or try doing anything else. The zone crashes. Log back in, and your world crashes.

That's what I see.

Just reproduced this consistently using the steps above. /reload groundspawn_items and /repop, then chatted about 5 mins with Scatman in ooc, and crashed my zone. I think his is still running, but then the entire world collapses.

I think the effect kills Scatman, too, because he thinks he is desynching, but I see no evidence of that in the console - just him getting dropped from a different zone. Here's the console from when it started:

Sorry I vanished. I was running on zero sleep (nerves, info overload from the old/new job) and got about 2 hours of sleep the night before, so I passed out dead hehe. I hope you were able to see something wrong somewhere. LE you may want to re-source your database with the TessEQ2 DB. I will put the latest/greatest on SVN tonight when I get home.

You also may try Release compile vs Debug, if you didn't already. That's the mode I am in all the time now since I do not know how to debug anymore. :)

Either a deadlock just caught up with him, or things are randomly crashing. Timorous is a pretty full zone, unless he has cleaned it up considerably.

Also, I was chatting TO him when his zone crashed, and I could no longer see an echo to my console in Outpost. Something is dreadfully wrong here, and I may ask that we disable the crash-catch stuff until we get through these issues.
