I thought that as well at first, so I tried making several different races and starting in different zones. As you suggested, however, I also tried making a human guardian starting in Tim Deep, Qeynos and Freeport; and I got the same error.
You know, I just have to say, I'm thoroughly confused. I don't understand how so many peeps can download this serverpack and I'm the only one who seems to be having this issue. I'm not sure what I could possibly have done to corrupt something as I've installed everything fresh, but I can't help but feel that I'm the one who's done something wrong.

I am thoroughly confused as well... because it really takes a ton of work on my part to build that ServerPack, and maybe you are the only one who has ever tried to use it after all. Either that, or (more likely) you are the only one willing to come tell me of a problem with it.
Either way, thanks for the heads up. I'll get that fixed in the code and the DB.

Well, I truly appreciate all of your effort!! I don't know anything about how much more work it's going to take to fix whatever is wrong.. no concept of that. =(
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you to help if anything and/or when you want for me to redownload anything to try again.

Would this issue be limited to the Server Pack? I make new characters all the time and don't seem to have an issue.
As for using the ServerPack... you know I love your editor goodness John. Just not a fan of using the Minilogin.

Code: Select all
ALTER TABLE `eq2world`.`characters` DROP FOREIGN KEY `FK_char_zone` ;
That should get you in-game and allow you to create new characters til I get the new ServerPack finished.
nlmiller, did you miss this post?
If the ALTER is something you are not comfortable doing yourself, I have updated the old 1.1 ServerPack and you can re-download it.

Wow, I'm not sure how I did, but yes, I missed that post entirely. Sorry about that. =/
Yes, I have SQLyog, but I know nothing about it. I think I have some old sql thing in there from an attempt at setting up a WoW server. It says:
MySQL host address: localhost
Username: root
PW: probably the same
Port: 3306
I don't know where I need to navigate or what to click on to do what you suggested doing. I'm sorry. =((
Dang... I must have missed the new download info the first time around as well. Going to redownload and try it out.

Yay!!! I can create a char and log in now!! There's just one thing. After I created a character, I had to exit out because it locked up or something. So, I shut everything down and started everything back up. When I reloaded the game and got the char select screen, there were two of each char: two Admins and two of the char I created. I shut everything down again, and tried again, and still two of each char...
Hmm... I thought that if I deleted one of them, maybe there would only be one left. So I deleted one, closed everything down and came back and both of my created chars were gone and the extra Admin guy was gone.

You just give it a bit and the dup's go away?
I played around with it a bit and made a few characters. The duplicates are gone now.
Thank you SOOOO much John. <cyberhug!> Really, thank you so very much. Hubby thanks you too, all the way from Iraq!

Whew! Finally, this issue is behind us
As for the dupe chars, I am not sure why it does it but if you only have 2 characters total, it seems to duplicate them. No harm, just pick one or the other. It might have something to do with the cache files too, or the client crashing.
I use a batch file to run my EQ2 client (posted around here somewhere) that deletes cache and logincache-us so mine is normally clean at startup.

Hi again, =P
So I sent him everything and he installed the game then started the emulator and started up eq2. Once he created a character and went into the game, the first zone is Queen's Colony. He says there are no mobs and no quest to get out of Queen's Colony. What are we missing?
Thank you

The ServerPack is not a completed database, never has been. It is merely a sample of the server and some data for admins to play with and get used to.
When our official database gets released, it can be sourced into the ServerPack to make it more EQ2-like.

lol well, don't I feel like a heel. I thought for some reason that he could play eq2 just without being online. So there's no way to do that at this point?

No, what he should be seeing are a few NPCs spawned and some sample scripts. The pack was really just for admins to try out the progressing server. Sorry.
Soon
(tm) you will have more data to play with, it's just not happened yet. And believe me, I am getting hit from all sides about this.

Yes, that's about what he sees. So is there nothing other than Queen's Colony? Or are there some commands similar to gm-type commands that he can use to get out of Queen's Colony and I don't know, maybe spawn some mobs, gear, et cetera?
lol no need to apologize. Was my bad entirely for thinking for some reason that this was something all-inclusive. He'll be home from Iraq in a couple of months. Is this "soon" that you speak of going to happen before then you think?
