Updated WIKI: Revive Points

You may need to tweak it to your liking and/or fix grammar errors. The death.jpg is a little big and I couldn't figure out how to delete the original old jpg previously uploaded. Let me know what you think.

EDIT: Still need to add the how-to.

Upload your pics in normal size, no pre-shrinking necessary. When you place the image in the document add the following:

[[File:image.jpg|500px]] or however wide you want it. I've been bouncing between 300/500px for most screen grabs, and anything menu-bar-like, I'll go as far as 900px to show it's details. But, that's up to you.

All images are click-thru so that's why I suggest not adjusting their size before upload. Click an image, and see it's full size and details.

TILT, FYI -- sandbag your revive_points updates for a little bit, while I try and kickstart the Content Milestone 2 effort. Right now, all zones are locked except the 5 newbie zones and the GM Hall. I know you were placing revive points outside those areas, so if you want, continue your work on a local server and store the insert queries which you can just paste into the new Query Box.

Or, just save them for when I unlock the zones after content development gets underway. You can still access the revive_points via the editor, you just can't test them just yet.

Thanks

John Adams wrote:Your next visit to the DB Editor / revive_points screen, you will find a Query window option. I thought rather than you having to type each field data-entry style, if you had an INSERT query (or series of them), you could paste it into this text box and submit it all at once.

The Query Box will accept updates/inserts for any zone. Meaning, if you have Antonica selected, you can still INSERT/UPDATE any of the other zones. I didn't bother restricting the zone ID for this case.
OK, both of these queries are failing. I've even tried doing a single query for the current zone selected. Please advise me what I'm doing wrong here. Thanks!

Code: Select all

INSERT INTO `revive_points` ('location_name', 'zone_id', 'respawn_zone_id', 'safe_x', 'safe_y', 'safe_z', 'heading') VALUES ('Cave Entrance', '254', '253', '-113.98', '4.47', '-172.61', '180');
INSERT INTO `revive_points` ('location_name', 'zone_id', 'respawn_zone_id', 'safe_x', 'safe_y', 'safe_z', 'heading') VALUES ('Cave Entrance', '348', '278', '-113.98', '4.47', '-172.61', '180');

Don't put quotes around the numbers. Only strings (an enums) get quotes.

Also, it looks like you have quotes around your column names. Take them out, or replace them with tilde's to escape the column names (`)

No problem! This is roughly where I've left off give or take a few zones that have multiple instances and still require data to be input (e.g Firemyst Gully). Most instances within these zones are complete.

=========================================

Outpost of the Overlord/Districts 1-14
Queen's Colony/Districts 1-14
Darklight Wood 1-20
Greater Faydark 1-20
Timorous Deep 1-20
Frostfang Sea 1-20
Antonica 10-20
The Commonlands 10-20
Nektulos Forest 20-30
Thundering Steppes 20-30

=========================================

NOTE: The numbers above represent the zones suggested min-max level.

Thanks Scatman, that worked!

@John - Not sure if this was even what you intended to have this query box do but running two queries together for two different zones at the same time produced an error message. I was however able to update "The Source of Evil" from the query box while having "The Circle of Elders" selected, just not two queries ran together as seen below. I haven't yet tried to run multiple queries that are within the same zone. One odd thing that happened though was when I finally selected "The Source of Evil" zone to verify it had updated, I had to delete multiple duplicate entries; most likely from previous failed attempts.

Code: Select all

INSERT INTO `revive_points` (location_name, zone_id, respawn_zone_id, safe_x, safe_y, safe_z, heading) VALUES ('Cave Entrance', 254, 253, -113.98, 4.47, -172.61, 180);
INSERT INTO `revive_points` (location_name, zone_id, respawn_zone_id, safe_x, safe_y, safe_z, heading) VALUES ('Cave Entrance', 348, 278, -113.98, 4.47, -172.61, 180);
Other than the issues I was having due to my own mistakes the query box worked excellent.

No, there should be no issue with submitting queries for multiple zones in the same box. Does it burp out an error you can give me? If not I'll try your queries above on my test box and debug it.

I deleted the previous inserts and ran the queries again and the error given says, ("Not an INSERT or UPDATE query!"). It seems the very first query is successful even when the editor complains, but only the first query and nothing after.

Not sure why this was happening, but for some reason the exploded query array thought there were 2 extra spaces at the end, after the ";" thus throwing off the substr($query, 0, 6) check for INSERT / UPDATE. It was coming out "INSE".

Fixed, either way.
