No absolutely not, was a discussion among the communityJohn Adams wrote: I doubt you were aiming that question at the EQ2Emulator Project team, because by now you have to realize any spare time we have from real-life goes into working on code/data. We have zero time slots to spare for sitting on IRCs, wandering the interwebs placing "ads" everywhere. This is YOUR emulator, community. You want it to survive, you spend the time trying to find resources. We're doing the most we possibly can. Good suggestions though, just nothing we're going to have time to do ourselves.

Ya know, I guess I was in dense-mode, because I read that you were familiar with ZAM but didn't put it together that you were a "we" til just nowKainUK wrote:Actually, for mob spawns, item stats, quest levels and merchant info, we're getting the data direct from SOE.
So here's my email to send me a zipped copy of your DB........... hehehe j/k

since my account time is growing short, i'm trying to figure out the best usage of it. although it's terribly boring, i've managed to get 4 classes done with respect to: 1-80 masters from research assistant, their class fun spells and portals, casting every one of their spells / CAs at least 5 times - except for the 15 minute emergency ones. i'm not doing AAs since i was thinking there were many AA calculators around, but realized i'm missing the spell effects, but ... i don't wanna go back /weakchuckle
when i can't stand that anymore, i've been mentoring down and questing with an 80 warden. i've done one WC run, but will do another as soon as i get all the CL quests done, cause i want all the Far Seas Reqs i can get. (aside: how anyone thinks PLing and then going back and doing all this stuff for AA is fun is beyond me.)
if there's anywhere better i can be spending my time, please don't hesitate to tell me.

Trust me, if I could get a dump of it and send it to you guys... I would... in a shot.John Adams wrote:Ya know, I guess I was in dense-mode, because I read that you were familiar with ZAM but didn't put it together that you were a "we" til just nowKainUK wrote:Actually, for mob spawns, item stats, quest levels and merchant info, we're getting the data direct from SOE.Ok, you would know best in this case, and that makes an invaluable resource indeed.

Re: Future of EQ2 Emulator
I agree with the extreme want for this Project to not die, My C++ skills are limited out of long non-use but I'm willing to do anything to help the project continue, Testing, Content, Database, Data Collection, and do my best to get my coding skills up to scratch. Only hurdle I've had is so little (or scattered) instruction on where to begin. Either way I want to throw my hat into the ring (If I wore a hat of course) , Set me a task, and I'll learn whatever I need to complete it, and I'll get it done!

Re: Future of EQ2 Emulator
I certainly appreciate your interest, and your tenacity for keeping on me about getting you something to do here. I apologize that since Feb or so, our team has all but disintegrated and scattered to the 4 winds. Nothing has been done in so long, which is why this post was made. We cannot possibly continue just the 3-4 of us, and need help. I see a lot of people not wanting to see the project stop, but very few actually offering to help still.deadlyasp wrote:Only hurdle I've had is so little (or scattered) instruction on where to begin.
But, to those of you willing to help - I am willing to do what I can to keep things going after June 1st, 2010. My issue is, I do not want to spend a ton of my own time and resources to move this project to my own hosting and set everything up, if there is still going to be one code commit per month.
Actions vs Words, though the words are very inspiring
As far as not receiving any specific tasks, well... there are about a dozen tasks I posted, and we really have no official "training program" here. You gotta just be confident enough you can jump in and do it, there is no 'wrong way' when we're all inventing how this works.

As I said... my coding skills are much fail... so I can't be of much use there...
However, if you want help getting info to populate zones and such, I can beat our search feature until it spits out the answers I want. I'm quite good at making the ZAM search feature do what I want.

Re: Future of EQ2 Emulator
I'm still data collecting for about a week, at which time I'll get the cotton out of my brain and see what needs else to be done.
The class Masters and Spell Effects are getting the better of my eyes. I've got dirge, troub, inq, fury, warden done, and in the process of getting coercer. I'm using the test dummy in my guild hall on testcopy, so there's some effects I can't get as I've nobody to rez or charm.
On my mentored 80, I've done:
- all the quests I can find in CL - 70ish under CL category
- 3 Bloodskull Valley instances, including the HQ
- WC several times
- Eternal Gorge, normal instance
- FG: in the process
Been slacking off for a couple of days due to headaches from spell effects and power outages due to storms (stupid small towns). I think I'll finish coercer and then leave that part off.
Do I remember reading somewhere that someone had all the tradeskill recipes?

Re: Future of EQ2 Emulator
Grab the source code from the SVN, then place any changes into the submissions section of the forum. Keep it up, and you soon be committing straight to the DB.

Re: Future of EQ2 Emulator
When it comes to the DB, you will use our project database editor, which only team members have access to.
Far as the DB goes, we're restarting our DB from zone 1, now that a DB has been released - we want to do it again, and do it right now that we've learned so much. Right this moment, there is NO content DB as I have not started the "clean slate" project yet. I was waiting to see how >this< thread turned out. Again, don't want to waste anyone elses time if ... well, you know.
