I install eq2 trial version (Play the fae)
and download and download. maybe 2days.
finally 'play' button appear.
then. I change 'eq2_default.ini' like player guide.
and use everquest2.exe and log in.
but error window appear.
say
're-run patcher. do not match server's version'
what patcher?
Player Guide say install

so I done that.
what is problem?
Player guide is wrong?
or
need some more work except `eq2_default'?

there is no server in lately?(2008.11.7)

You can't. No way without buying the RoK box set. Wait until The Shadow Odyssey comes out on the 18th and buy that.

To further clarify the replies...
There is NO WAY to play for FREE. Buy the game from SOE, or you cannot play on the emulator. Support for free clients (trials) is not likely to continue.
