"General" merchants

What are your thoughts on this?
Example:
Is it true that when you see an <Arms Dealer> in one location, chances are every <Arms Dealer> you run across will have the exact same inventory?
How about General Goods? I am actually asking about every merchant that could be seen as "generic". In making up the merchant lists from packet collects, I am finding a lot of items are exactly the same - and there would be no reason to make 200 merchant_id's if 1 ID will suit 200 General Goods merchants.
Thoughts?

As far as I am aware this is true most of the time. The only exception I am aware of is the merchants selling languages. Good merchants sell good languages and evil sell evil ones, with neriak merchant selling both.

Are those just the scribes? Or is it every merchant? I don't remember seeing them everywhere.

They sell the language books. In all honesty, they are in such few places, you could just make them specialized merchants instead of ""general" ones.

That's kinda what I was leaning towards. If they are on Scribes only (those who sell Spells in cities/hoods), then that's easy. Along with the code we need to determine what class you are for what spells you see, we could have all the books on the single merchant list, but only show you the ones that pertain to your homestead.
Or, just have those dozen or two merchants be dupe data. Makes my skin crawl, duplicating data... tsk tsk. I doubt I'll sleep tonight now, thanks.
