EQ2Emulator switching servers
Sometime over the next couple of weeks we are going to be switching from the current server to a newer more stable server. I'll try to make the transition as well as possible, but don't panic if you are unable to get to the site for a day or two. Due to ISP DNS caching you might be pointed at the old server when we throw the switch. The best solution if this occurs is to just wait it out and within a day or two everything should be working correctly. We are making this switch because our current dedicated server's reliability is horrible and not worth the money. I'll instead be hosting the site and services locally.

LE, might I suggest that if the database for the forum is on your old host, and the database for the new forum is on a new one that you use the "disable board" feature in the ACP to disallow new postings to be made to the old site. This will maintain integrity so post are not made by some of us with the old DNS cache, etc.
We can handle being down for 48 hours to allow the world to catch up.

Sounds good, just make sure not to his the power button on your server accidentally as I have done many times with mine
.
John, the world will have time to catch up, but what about all of us EQ2Emu junkies? How will we get our fix for two days?

Re: EQ2Emulator switching servers
Since this work was completed without a single hitch last weekend, I think you are safe.
Btw LE - I've thanked you before, but I have to add now... great planning on your part. As I said, barely a hiccup that anyone noticed (except JCL ~cough~ shhh) =) Very smooth move for how major this was.
