EQ2Emu Port 9000?

First (and hopefully only) question from me.

Since EQEmulator uses port 9000 for it's world server, can the EQ2Emulator world be set to use a different port? Or is this hard-coded like in EQ1?
Might finally have that excuse to get a second IP.

Thanks!
J

You should be able to change the world port without any problems. If you have a router make sure you forward the new port.

Ok, thank you. I saw "9000" and panicked.
I think I have one more slot left on my router heh so here goes!

in LoginServer.ini you can set the worldport=????, there are no restrictions in EQ2EMu on the world port, and the 'zones' (which are obviously implemented all into the world executable) all run off the same port.

Perfect! I think I have found my new home. I should have followed techguy over here months ago...

Yeah, the port is actually not hard coded into the app and you can modify it in the LoginServer.ini configuration file.
It's just a matter of port forwarding and configuring your router/firewall properly. I use port 80 for example, so I mess up people if they try a TCP connection on my host.

Yup, got the port forwarding stuff.
I found that if I leave "internaladdress" blank, the port assignment is 9000, no matter what I set it to in the loginserver.ini. But if I put my local internal address to the VM running EQ2Emu, it applies my port.
I still cannot get logged into my own server, though I think others have. I get JIT errors and can provide call stacks if it'll help. No idea what's going wrong though.

Could it be your version of zlib? I know some other people have had that problem.

John Adams, is this the same problem you were having in your other post under windows server support? If it's fixed could you relay that here too please. If you're still having problems it can be looked into.

The "crash" reported on Windows Support is not related to the Port 9000 question. But I do appreciate you all following my ADHD... I'll try and stay on topic in my own topic.

Everything is fine, and this thread could be closed: resolved, since the failure to connect was likely an active VPN session (though not confirmed, it works now - moving on)
