Task: Revive Points

Every zone has at lease 1 Revive Point - a place you go when you die. None of these have been set up beyond the 2 newbie islands. What I need is for someone to go to each spawn named "Respawn Tent" and first, verify the tent is in the right place facing the right direction, and get the coords where the player should pop if they select that revive point. Lastly, enter those coords into the revive_points table.
Procedure (using Antonica as an example):
- 1. Go to the Zones editor and pick Antonica
2. Click on the revive_points page and you will see a data entry form, likely with no records.
3. Log into game type /zone Antonica
4. Type /goto Respawn Tent to find the closest tent (you'll have to wander to find the others)
5. Stand where you think the player should respawn, and type /loc - noting x,y,z,heading
6. Enter the following data (please be accurate in this - if you don't know, don't do it)
- location_name
- this is the name that appears in the dialog box the player chooses when they died and is usually something like "Near North Qeynos Gates" etc
zone_id - this is the zone the revive_point is in
respawn_zone_id - this is the zone the player will be sent TO, if death means they return to another zone
safe_x - x coord
safe_y - y coord
safe_z - z coord
heading - heading coord
7. Click the Insert button to the right to insert your new record.
8. Go to the next spawn tent and repeat steps 4-7 until all records are entered.
If you make a mistake, you can use Update on the existing row, or delete the row completely.
Very Important: It is critical that the text you put into location_name match the Live experience, and not some silly, clever or obnoxious text

This is text that appears in the death dialog, so make sure it matches Live please. =)

I'll start on this when I get home from work tonight.

go die lots have fun with all that debt
on my more serious note when I was playing on the pvp server I noticed when you die no matter where in the zone you get all the revive points. not sure if it works this way on the blue servers been a little while since i paid atten to the revive box. I know before you had to die within a certain feet of the revive point to see it on your list.

Heh, you do not have to die to input coords. Just best-guess it

And the emulator currently supports proximity to spawn tent already, which I believe is how it is on the blue servers. I die a lot during collecting, so I am very familiar with it :/ Although I did notice I died almost by stormhold and my toon was offered the Qeynos Gates respawn, so who knows.

aww john were is the fun in that. think about it you are a lowly lvl 1 just creeping around and just run up and slap the fool out of someone sure you will die but it should be mildly entertaining for a little bit

Welp, since Nalandial has apparently died and gone to gamer heaven, this task is not getting attention. Any other takers? There are a few zones that have revive points that need setup. Every zone should have at least 1. If there is no "tent" then set up a closest "safe location" like the zone-in coords.

That's the spirit! You can even "pre-setup" revive points in any and all zones world-wide if you choose. Please be sure to go into game an kill yourself repeatedly, you know, just to test your work

I would like to see all revive points completed for each zone, this way it will be a done deal, besides any entries needed to support future updates to the game. As of now, the plan is to finish each zone starting with the most relevant zones to the emu and then move on to zones that will not have support for some time.

Dying is what I do best, some people even go as far to say that I'm a professional

John, I would really like to start with a clean revive_points table and since I'll be verifying the existing locations within it anyway would you oppose to this idea?
Secondly, I know the zone_id's cannot change, but will it become a problem if I don't keep the location_names associated with their current assigned id's? Am I safe to change these id's as I see fit? I'd like to see some kind of organization between a block of id's and their respective location_names in comparison to the zone you would find them in. Does this make sense? lol

If you want to nuke what's there and start over, go for it. It's just more work for you

The location_name is what appears in the client when you die, and get a list of where to revive. The name is less about "making sense", and more about matching live.
I would prefer we stick to what Live displays when you die, if this information is known. Otherwise, free reign on location_name if you do not know what it is in the live game for that location.
Let me know when you're ready to start, and I will bump your access in the editor to Insert/Update permissions.

This sentence was really confusing and not very clear, sorry about that. What I was trying to ask is, can I change these id's as seen below in red and associate them with other location_names? I wasn't sure if these id numbers were anything other than a numbering system that if changed might affect code.

I agree 100% and plan to make this text display precisely like it would on live. I did notice while playing on EQ2Emulator public server that some changes will need to be made to the code to correctly display this text entirely. The partial text seen within the red box below, I believe is being pulled from the "zones" table name column and this won't be correct. Since changing these "Friendly Names" in the "zones" table will create conflicts (e.g. Using /zone command), I think we should add another column to the revive_points table that will allow input for the correct text to be displayed and change any necessary core code to pull that info from the new column. What are your thoughts on this?

OK, committed a fix for this, could you please check it out and let me know if the zone name displayed is better?
