Locked means locked!

Post by John Adams » Mon Oct 15, 2007 6:26 am

As with all other suggestions at this stage, I figure it's a low priority... but can we try and make the "locked=true" actually lock your servers? Reason being, there is no minilogin yet, and 5 mins after I got my server running I had 4 new accounts, all with profane or otherwise shocking character names created.
I am pretty happy to see the connections worked (lol). So in a way, a positive test!
Gracias,
J

EQ2Emu 0.0.2 will have support for locked servers. Users will still be able to create characters on your server but cannot join the server without an admin_status above the variable in the database (explained below).
So the admin_status column in the characters table will have to be greater or equal to the 'minlockedstatus' variable for the character.
In your world database there will be a column in the variables table called 'minlockedstatus' the default will be set to 100.

Perfect, thank you!
I had actually forgotten about the way EQ2 creates chars... that you make one first, then stick it on a server - as opposed to the other way around. Hopefully no one will decide to be malicious in this, and clutter DBs with unused chars.

You can always make a script too and delete any old accts that arn't used for say, 6 months. That can be done 3rd party, to take care of any potential problems there.
