Let me retract my previous scathing comment with this one, being the kinder, gentler John Adams I am trying to be in 2009...

It offends me personally when people come here asking for help and feel it necessary to include that our documentation and/or information is not useful or otherwise out-of-date. We (LE, me, Scat and very few others) spend an ungodly amount of time on these forums explaining and re-explaining things over again, and writing walkthru's and Wiki pages, and help files and links directly from the brand NEW portal explaining exactly how to get a client connected to an emulator - or get your own server running.

To tag your help request with "so outdated it's undependable" is a slap in the face of those who continually spend time updating this information, rather than building an emulator.

You want to help, update the docs from the literal 100's of posts on these forums explaining exactly what to do.

There, is that nicer?

i had no intention at all to be offensive.. ;/ sorry :( I should have chosen better words, I honestly met no offense and I only said outdated due to the the fact that the old client is no longer around, I do think what you all are doing is great, I did look in the forum to try to find the latest data but i had no luck, I apologize :(, I wont bug you all for help, will try to figure it out my self

Just ignore the old client data if you see it. We try to keep up with the live client as much as possible, but sometimes it takes a while to catch it up. The last client to work (that I have anyway) is 5316L. The current does not.

You can also check IRC for additional information on client compatibility. But every other aspect of connecting your client to an EQ2Emulator is accurate to our documentation. If not, we need to know about it.

There is not much to figure out.. To play on someones server you change one line in your eq2_default.ini
the very first line when you open it with a txt editor is

Code: Select all

cl_ls_address
with lots of ip addresses after it. change that to

Code: Select all

cl_ls_address www.eq2emulator.net
if you are asking on how to obtain the client I am sorry the only method we support is to go out and buy either the RoK box set or the TSO box set. either one will work but i would go with the tso one myself.

We do not condone any other method on getting the client while it may be impossible to block access from clients not obtained in this manner and still stay current with live. We will not help you get the client in any other fashion.

This question is asked alot here and it is not good for us to have these type of threads because it puts out the vibe we condone not paying for this game when we in fact encourage users to buy the game it is really really cheap now. And it helps soe develop new content which can only be good for us.

Not saying this was your intent just the way it came across. If you need help and your question was not answered by the tutorial or by searching then by all means ask here is the url to the players guide it is in the tutorial section of the site. Player's Guide
if there needs to be anything added to it let us know.

there are other client versions that work and you will see all kinds of version numbers scattered throughout this site but we only support the tso and rok box sets and i think mainly just tso now since it has been out for a bit. however the rok one still works if you have that one instead. when in doubt check the compatibility thread Here

The latest live client does not work. I don't know if the steam version works or not but if it forces you to patch up to live it will not work until the opcodes and or structs are updated.

5343L is working (now that LE seemed to have updated it).
If you just want to play a server look here.
All the stuff there checks out, maybe it's just overwhelming for some because it's not simplified.

So you have a live account? Create a copy of your EverquestII directory, edit your eq2_default.ini file as mentioned above, and run EverQuest2.exe NOT eq2.exe (all from the copy EverQuestII directory). LE was nice enough to update the structs today to allow the latest live client to connect to the emulator.

Then you do not wish to help this project by doing whatever it takes to be a part of it.

Figure it out, like everyone else has. Locked.
