Emotes

The more players I see online lately, the more I see the /dance, /flirt, /playdead's coming across my console. I know we can emote ourselves using /animtest and the visual_state - how much would it cost to sneak in working Emotes?
What do you need from us? Packets of every social? We can do that.

Image did it a while back, but apparently the message field wasn't on the update server for whatever reason. Also, looking at it I think I'm going to have to add a second column to the table. The reason being that some (all?) emotes display a different message if you have something targeted.
IE:
LethalEncounter smiles
or
LethalEncounter smiles at the treasure chest
You can get started whenever you like. Just find the ID it tells you and add the messages to the visual_states table. In targeted_message use %t to designate where the server should substitute the targeted spawns name.

Actually hold off for a bit. I'm going to have to redesign it. The problem is that some emotes use the same visual state, so a simple one for one won't work. I'll have to make it pull from a new table.

Ok, well add it to the list then hah. If there's anything we data guys can do to help, just let me know.
Since some emotes have audio, I mean... would we have to collect that to get the sound keys?

Which emote has a sound associated with it? Btw I already collected most if not all of the emotes. Update and look in your emotes table
You can use the following variables in your emotes:
%t = target name
gender based:
%g1 = his/her
%g2 = him/her
%g3 = he/she
Hop on my server if you want to test it out.

Haha, nice LE. Little things like this bring much fun to the project, now we can start shaking our fannies at each other.
As for voiceovers, if you look in your Socials dialog, any emote with a chat bubble icon will produce an audio response as well. Like /flirt =)
AND! depending on what setting you have in your Persona for what voice you wish to use, I think the voiceovers are different, too. I'll dig up an example.
BUT!

Just having working emotes is great for now.

well, nm... all of a sudden my sound capture doesn't work with Fraps, so you'll have to take my word for it. I logged in, opened Persona / Details, switched my characters voice profiles and tried "Apologize"... and each one was a different voiceover. The good news is I do not think the voiceovers differe between race, only gender. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

I can't even login to Live at the moment, are you having any problems?

No, I hopped on 3 times trying to get the sound to capture. Trying it now, and it seems to let me in ok. I see they slipped another little client patch out too. Blah.

Ahh that is what happened, they must have been restarting their login servers for the patch. BTW this emote stuff is good, I was able to find two unknowns (emote_voice and combat_voice) for spawns out of the emote work.

One more odd thing I noticed and cannot track down myself (maybe because this is an internal client screwup?) but female fae seem to have the emote voice of dwarven males.

Ahh, figured it out I think. If the P:ersona window has Emote set to <None>, the default seems to be some generic male voice. Soon as I changed the setting on a new girl fae, she squeaks as annoyingly as she is supposed to.
I believe <None> should not echo a sound to anyone, right?

Yah I think so, although odd that any voice at all plays.

It appears that once you switch it from <None> to something, then back to <None>, no sound plays. So perhaps the problem is with the "0" default not being recognized on new characters.
