"New Posts" link in Forum Header

To the web admin:
Can you make the header in the /forums section like the header in the portal, where it has the "View post since last visit" info? One thing I've always disliked about standard phpBB is the New Posts is only available at the index... so on my phpBBs I usually throw something in the overall_header.tpl to provide that convenience.
