• Error messages on server creation

I know y'all get this a lot. I've searched all over the place, but I can't find a solution to my problem anywhere. I normally stick it out on my own until I get it to work, but I honestly have no idea what to do at this point. Below is the output from my eq2world.exe.
What I've tried:
updating opcodes by deleting from the version table.
dropping the eq2 database (multiple times) and running the eq2world.exe until it stops trying to download new updates (there are normally 4-5 "SUCCESS" update messages per run for the first few runs).

Are you running a MySQL version higher than 5.0.xx? If so, that is most likely your problem. Download and install a 5.0.xx version of MySQL.

Ack, thank you for the fast reply. You are most likely exactly right, I'm going to be trying it again in a second with 5.0.xx. I did read that post, but when I saw the bit about mysql, I glazed over it thinking they were telling him his was too old, and to use 5.1.

Edit: I'm using MySQL 5.0.45-community-nt now, with a fresh eq2 database and have tried updating it a couple of times. I'm having the same problem as before. I'm using the 0.6.5 binary from the sourceforge zip.

What same problem as before? opcode configuration spam? If so, there is a post about what to do about that. Did you read the ENTIRE post top to bottom? That guy we helped in that thread sounds like your exact problem and his server configuration works now.

I wasn't skimming when I read the post

I had just skipped the mysql bit assuming I had it right. Just to be sure though, I re read the entire thing top to bottom and followed all the steps.
Tell me if this sounds wrong, but is it possible I'm timing out trying to download the opcodes? I'm on 26k dialup, which is fairly stable normally, so I'm not sure why that would be a problem. When I set it to re-download table_versions, it gets to opcodes and then pauses for roughly 8 seconds, then floods me with opcodes and starts the server. The next time I run it, it updates about 8 more things, then starts the server. I can continue doing that, and each time I run it it updates about 8-10 new things, leading me to believe some are timing out and corrupting, such as the longer opcodes download.

I wouldn't think the connection would be the issue, but then again, I haven't used dial-up in over 10 years, lol.

When I set it to re-download table_versions

what are you entering here?

Did you run this? update table_versions set download_version=0;

Sorry, I should have been more specific there. Yes, that's what I entered. And it redownloaded everything, but I had the problem I mentioned in my previous post of the download happening in "clumps."

Edit: And yes, 26 kilobits

I have satellite for things like large files, but the latency is so bad that dial-up is better for hosting/playing games on.

Status update: it's fixed

thank you for all of your help. I sent a friend my configuration and had him download the version of mysql I was using, and he updated everything flawlessly on cable. I'm going to use a dump of his database instead of trying to update my own.
Any idea if it was timing out, or what the deal was to cause this?
