3rd Party PHP/ASP.NET Multipurpose Editor

Post by razmalone » Tue Oct 16, 2007 6:24 pm

I was thinking a web editor for characters, npcs, items ect. Would be helpful and I could start working on that. Any changes to the db could be easily fixed. What would most people perfer, ASP.NET or PHP. Both are free and good languages. And PLEASE do not turn this into a PHP or ASP.NET is better post.

In all seriousness, I suggest PHP because it is cross-platform and I think more hosts provide PHP these days.

Agreed, PHP. Not that .NET isn't fancy, just not as widely used in standard (read: simple) gaming sites. I've already written a few quickie lookup scripts for the new server, since I need to SEE what I can do.
I think you are right though, putting together a basic framework for tools/scripts would be good for the community to get involved with while waiting for more development on the server. DB changes can be implemented as needed, so making the software "modular" could be a good approach.
