busy servers?

Post by trendkiller » Wed Mar 18, 2009 1:41 pm

I have loaded and followed the tutorial and went to login and got the prompt "cannot connect to a login server, the servers may be busy try again in a few minutes" been trying every 5 minutes for the last hour. Something must be off here. Any suggestions?

sounds like you are using the latest client.. it is not yet supported I think maybe a struct is off or something. also if the server you are trying to connect to is not using opcodes compatible with your client version then you will get a backlogged msg or something similar because it is not a compatible client for that server...

telling us what client version and server you are trying to connect to as well as telling us any troubleshooting steps you have completed such as deleting the cache folders and all the .ini except for eq2_default.ini will help in determining your problem

eq2emu LS is not hosted by the same people who host eq1emu
I can connect to the LS fine using www.eq2emulator.net

Tess was having a seizure. A known issue we cannot track down, where the world gets into a loop trying to disconnect an IP.

Hope to catch that someday when debugger is hooked up, but for now, it takes someone telling me there is a problem since I do not watch the server 24x7. :)

If this post is NOT about the server TessEQ2, then... uh, nevermind. :)

Directions were not quite clear on finding out whhat client one has, I have had eq2 installed on this machine and probably have not connected to live since nov/dec of 08' so how would I find my client model?

Start the client by using the file EverQuest2.exe and run it in windowed mode.

At the top of the window you will see this: (example from my client) EverQuest II(Jul 31 2008) USER OPTIMIZED: SOEBuild=5016L

Where it says SOEBuild=5016L, that the version #

I am not really sure about 5185. I no longer have a copy of that client but i think it may work the reason i say may work is that there was a patch the day after that one and i am not sure if the opcodes changed then or not.

what is the exact errors you are getting something like trying server 1 then a sec or 2 later trying server 2....etc?
make sure in your eq2_default.ini that the line cl_ls_address looks like this cl_ls_address www.eq2emulator.net
and run the EverQuest2.exe not EQ2.exe.

no while a great many of the clients do work not all will. if we have the opcodes and structs for the version then it will work if not...then it will not

you can try and delete your cache folders and delete all the .ini files except for eq2_default.ini and if that does not work then patching to live will be your only other option. unless you have the rok or tso box sets then you can use those aswell

Ha, so i went to eqclient to double check and I had http:// before the address. So I took that out and got this error window message "Login Rejected: The client's version does not match the server's . Please re-run the patcher.
Was this a step in the right direction?

ya it is :) but that means that either the client will not work with the emu or was not verified to work and since it is old i would lean towards not working.. that client is from dec 2 08 right?,,,you can try one other thing ..that is download JA's repack and see if it works with that if not then we do not have the opcodes for that version... let us know how it goes you can get it here
