[BUG] Server Name Not Being Displayed

Wouldn't really classify it as a bug, but...

Severity:
1
Problem: After Cad (or LE) updated the LoginServer, the server name is no longer shown at the Character Play screen when choosing a character.
Occurrence: After logging in and checking your characters, the output is "Current in <blank> Offline server(down)".
So I just wanted to let you know, on Live it displays the Server Name instead of Offline Server. I'm sure it's an easy fix :).

Actually thats just the disadvantage of eq2's cache.
Patch Goal: If a world server is down, don't send the world server's information and don't send the characters for that world server. We realized instantly that so many worlds were going to take up resources both bandwidth and looping through all that data in the code.
The problem: EQ2 holds a character login cache, it is a folder in your Everquest 2 directory called logincache-us, it likes to recover characters that aren't being sent by the LS
Solution: You have to delete logincache-us to get rid of characters that are on unconnected servers.
I will look into seeing if there is a way to make the server delete the logincache-us, but I don't know at this time.

Adding on to what Cad said, there was two options:
1. Listing all 76 (number as of right now) world servers and people having a huge list of servers (most of which are offline).
2. Not sending world that are down. A side effect would be that the world name wouldnt appear on character select if the character was read from its cache.
Cad and I (I'm sure most of you would as well) both agreed that option 2 was by far the better choice. Especially considering that the number of servers will rise quite a bit as time goes by.

Totally agree with not seeing the hundreds of servers that will come and go. If there's no way to get the <server> name to appear on the character select screen, I think that's an acceptable loss considering the alternative. :)
It could be a problem for those who play the same toon name on multiple servers. But who really does that? Everyone runs their own server usually. :D :D

Well, in retrospect, it's not really a problem.

Conclusion
: If the world server is down, YOU CAN'T PLAY ANYWAY! :)
