New Spell Names

Since I always sem to be the one letting everyone know here about pending changes on live that will effect us going forward (i swear, I must get some perverse pleasure from causing other pain

), check out this gem-
Aeralik is looking to change the names of all the spells in the game!

Wow, what a pain in the ass... I can see where they are coming from with this but I would have to disagree. I would hate the see the same spell over and over again with another # on the end.

Of course, I do understand to an extend... spell names can only get so severe before you run out of names... I mean, how do you make a spell sound nastier than Pandemic? or Tornado? or Fission/Fusion?

Ha, WoW for sure. I'm glad i don't play that any more haha... I could maybe see one or two of the same spell, maaaaaybe 3... just to free up names?

They are just looking for ways to not work on real content

This was basically how Spells/Abilities worked in Vanguard, too. Heal 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ... etc. Made changing macros easier, since VG's command-line cast needed the spell name.
/cast Heal I
Or whatever. Haven't played in a while. But that's what I remember.

eh lack of imagination. you could always combine names or use latin names at least in part with new spells. i mean really how many more tiers will they make i know in the beginning they was talking about lvl 200 and 200 aa's but i think they will stop much sooner with lvls maybe 100 or 150.

It is lame, kills the EverQuest style. They are just turning it into 'every other' mmo because they can't find people with creative thoughts at sony anymore.
