Client Crash - Out of Memory

I am now blessed with a new obstruction - never before has my client not been able to handle "over populated zones" as far as free RAM goes - so I am suspicious that this is a bogus error, and maybe linked to something else.

Zoning into our RAW zones, where I know there is a large excess of spawns, I am now getting client crashes with no debug info (no logging in the client) to show what it is... just, quits.

I will say this does not appear to happen when zoning into our cleaned-up zones, so I have to admit it has something to do with the quantity of spawns in our raw zones yet-to-be-cleaned... however, we should probably not be crashing the client.

World works fine, that's why this is a new thread. Not a world crash.

Ideas?

Welp, because I am such a thorough little tester, I tried going same char, same zone from a different PC, and it seems to work fine... so I guess that tells me yet something else is wrong with my main gaming PC.

This is likely not an EQ2Emu/World issue at all then... but I'll post if I find anything else out.

Not sure if this will help but...
What sort of character race/class home town ?
Which zone were you going from and to ?
Did you use the zone command or actually walk/travel to next zone..
Maybe a couple of us could attempt to duplicate this error

Don't tell me... using an Nvidia card John?

Try turning off shadows and you should be fine.

Oooh, yes. Just got a new 9800GTS since my local power company ate my 8800GTX. :( $850 down the drain...

I forgot about various settings, but never had that problem with the 8800... today I re-imaged my WinXP, something I do so often I have a GhostDVD with everything pre-loaded. We'll see if that fixes it. Windows is such a pile of crap sometimes.

ATI, the best

Buy a 4850 / 4870 and you can run game in the higest quality with all effects (about 45 fps when raiding)

This seems to be a rather frequent issue for Vista users - http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/post ... c_id=44951

(Never seen this happen myself though, maybe theres a setting in EQ2 that limits how much memory it allows)

Not sure why phpBB3 destroys raw links, but if you take the "c_id=#", paste the # as topic_id and you can find the thread. I'll fix Images post.

Yes, I run into this problem all the time with Vista, but it really is an nvidia problem and occurs on WinXP as well. Vista users just get it much more often.
