Collaborate with your logs

Prior to parser release, we have to begin collecting data. To do that, we need the collaboration of everyone, so if you want, follow the instructions
here, and keep collecting the packets. We'll eventually provide a place to upload it.
Here you can post what are you packet collecting, so other people can do other things. Better will be to post profession, level, faction and zones.

Char: Level 11 goodie ranger high elf carpenter
I ran through Castleview Hamlet last night and visited every corner, talked to every NPC, opened every merchant, and even went into someone's Inn room.
What I plan to collect (if the above is correct) is:
- Oakmyst Forest
*done*
- The Down Below
*done*
- The Forest Ruins
*done*
- The Peat Bog
*done*
- Qeynos Tradeskill Area
*done*
- Qeynos: 1 Room Apartment
*done*

*done*
- Qeynos: The Willow Wood
*done*
- darklight_wood: Darklight Wood
*done*
- Antonica *done*
Note: On the large zones, I think we should get a few people to capture it, since I can run back and forth and sometimes get new spawns. So this might be a continued effort in the larger areas.
As stated elsewhere though, I am waiting to start this until I know what I am doing is enough to parse accurately. This is also assuming collecting is merely a matter of running around and talking to NPCs or whatever. If it's more involved, my list could shrink.

Updated the instructions with FTP address to upload your logs. Begin to do that so we'll begin our work as soon as Lethal makes new release.

I am still a little uncertain about the "replace character name with x's" concept. Because the text on the right does show the char name, but the hex on the center is the hex values of the character name you are trying to hide.
So you actually need to change both? It's been a while since I worked with debug-looking stuff. Let us know what we should do.

Was wondering the same thing.

I would open the file up in a hex editor like hex workshop and have it replace your characters name with something different. in a hex editor you can also have it look for the hex values and have it replace them all.

I thought about that, but I believe the file output is not really Hex, but text that is just formatted like a debug dump? Hell I don't know. I'll just keep collecting for now until I see what the Parser can do.

I think that Lethal must give us better instructions on how to use packet collector. I pm'd him the other day asking for some options, like an option to run the packet collector with your name blanked fully automatically and things like that.

Yah I could definitely remove all references of a particular user or name. If you guys want it before you start a massive collection I make a new version of packet logger.

I updated it to remove any given text that you choose. You can get it from sourceforge from the same link as always. All you have to do is create a file named IgnoreList.txt in the same directory from which you run EQ2PacketCollector.exe
In this file, add sensitive text that you would like for the collector to screen out. Only add one per line. If you use a common password, please dont add it to the ignore file. Just remove that from the one packet after you are finished collecting. If you run it correctly, you should see something like this at the very top of the EQ2PacketCollector window:
Loading ignore list from IgnoreList.txt...
Note that all ignored names are case sensitive!!
INFO: Added myL33tU$erName to ignore list.
INFO: Added myCo0lP@s$w0rd to ignore list.
The contents of my IgnoreList.txt file were:
myL33tU$erName
myCo0lP@s$w0rd

Awesome, LE. I will start real collecting in the morning. Thank you!
If you use a common password, please dont add it to the ignore file. Just remove that from the one packet after you are finished collecting.
Sorry to have to ask, but I don't know what this means. I have searched the logs for my password and never found it. I usually run the collector first, then launch EQ2. Then quit EQ2 and the collector closes.
The first time I ran it (before a recent SOE patch) the collector ran and stopped fine without interfering with the client. Lately, if I stop the collector, the client crashes. Just a heads up in case they changed something.
