Running version 4412, try user name and password....cannot connect. Is there a work around for this? I read that I need to run version 4427. How do I get that version of the game without updating (since I heard updating was BAD)

If you have the TSO box set you can try that.

Well, I did go into IRC and downloaded a newer Everquest2.exe but unfortunately it's giving me an error message saying the servers are down. Are they down? It attempts to log into the servers and says "try again later"

Have you changed the eq2_default.ini? Are you able to choose a server or are you given this error even before you can see the character select screen?

Yes I did. I changed the eq2_default.ini to say "cl_ls_address eq2emulator.net" for the i.p. address change field. Still, not able to log in.

Now I am getting an error when it tries to load the game and the client crashes. It does give me this error though...

It looks like you started with client version 4412 and then downloaded a compatible .exe as outlined in IRC. The reason why you are crashing is because you do not have matching supporting files to match the downloaded .exe
