Portal Changes

You may notice a few changes to the Portal today - one being a 3-column layout with some extra stuff hanging off the sides. Here's a quick run-down of those changes:

- Added LoginServer Status so you can see how many servers are currently connected and the total players in EQ2Emulator worlds.

- Updated the Server List, adding much more detail and Server Categories - where popular or special circumstances servers can be categorized differently than standard or development servers.

- Server Admins can manage the data shown in the Server List < Info > links from the new Account Management module.

- Re-wrote Account Management (still a work-in-progress). This is a pretty major re-design, with the goal to offer an easier way to manage all your Login and Server accounts from one screen. A few key things you should know;
  • After you login to Account Management once with the proper user/password combination, the account gets an updated IP and unique key assigned to it.

    If you log in from the same forum account on the same IP address to a different account, that account also becomes yours, and both will be displayed for easier management.

    With this new system, now you simply click Edit next to the login account of your choice and make any changes necessary

    In the above image, you will see a section at the bottom that will show you every character that LoginServer knows about that you have ever played - active or deleted. This option is for viewing only, and at a later date may have additional functionality.

    Also, your servers are managed through this same interface - no more going to two places to do simple tasks. Once you create a new world under a specific account, those servers will show up on this same page in the second half (My Server Accounts)

    Note: Server Management re-write is almost done, and I apologize it is not ready just yet, but I had to get Account Management up to test some of these concepts, and I am hoping for some feedback. Part of the reason for this change was to hopefully provide password recovery and bug feedback options to players who are helping us out with testing.

    Also note that at least until "abuse" starts back up, Login Account registration via Account Management has been opened up to anonymous (non-forum) players. This is on a temporary basis, as every registered or accessed account is logged for your protection.
The top menu changed slightly, as did the Portal Menu to the left - hopefully both are less cluttered and confusing.

There's more coming, but this is all I could remember right now ;) I'll add more later.

I've got some more moving to do today, but I am going to try my hardest to get the Server Maintenance modules activated again so we can once again create new servers and edit old ones.

My sincerest apologies for this taking far longer than I had hoped. :(

Ok, if someone could be so kind as to try the Account Management module for Server Management, let me know if there are any problems. You should be able to create a new world, edit that world, and delete that world - and no one elses :) This goes for forum registered members as well as anonymous (you can test it logged into forum or logged out of forum).

Please report any problems or odd behavior. All tables are backed up (just in case) and there is click-logging showing me what you are doing so I can proactively catch any bugs if I missed something.
