Poor EQEmulator.net

Post by John Adams » Tue Dec 08, 2009 10:25 am

Ok so I finally got smart enough to put in the IP (http://64.120.167.20) and saw the park page someone else told me about... DDoS, eh? Maybe I should investigate how to prevent that. Hard to believe a professional hosting company would still be vulnerable - or have the audacity to punish their customer for their lack of experience with prevention.

I wish there was something we could do to help our sister site. I'd give them a home on my host, but they are way too busy a site - and with monthly attacks from jackasses that cannot be identified or stopped, my blood pressure would not tolerate that very long ;)

I do wish they'd come back online though. I am having a devil of a time getting EQEmu to compile using the latest sources, crying about fopen, fgets, fclose not being declared in this scope yadda yadda. Seems I have some dependency missing, but my resources are offline!!

Yeah great site, loved the new look it had too, hopefully won't be too long and maybe they'll get some donations to keep them going. Shame about the cost of operating free sites these days especially when some people find it a good use of their time to cause them so much grief. Must have been a stinger for rogean to come back to find everything being pounded.

As for your fopens, you could ask for help on axclassic?! *** Runs!!! ***

You know, I was thinking... (stop it!)

If EQEmu ever gets back up and running, we should see if they would do a link exchange with us. We could benefit from the exposure to their large population, and they may benefit from exposure to ours as well...

Yeah, we could off-load some of their DDoS attacks to this site. Great idea!!

What they need is a counter-DDos....one that detects a DDos and turns it back on the sender :D

Intentional service attacks are the one scenario that I think it's perfectly ok to drive to someone's house and beat the fuck out of them.

Isn't DDos'ing someone considered terrorism?
