Older clients would be able to keep connecting. LE has engineered EQ2Emu to allow any version client (that we update the server for) to connect.

Whatever your client has for zone layout is what you will see when you log in. The only thing that would be effected is exactly as you say - if you log into MY world and I have spawns everywhere according to an old topology, and now you log in with your new client zones, yeah... the coordinates will be all bad and you'll probably zone into blackness and be fucked.

How's that for an analysis? :)

I could also set it up with the zones table so that certain client versions were sent to a different zone than previous client versions. This would allow you to set up zones that are named the same but have different content for both before and after the major changes took place. However, it might be more work than it is worth, not just my part but also all the content stuff as well.

I think for now just a client bump will do. Honestly, i thik the fallen Citadel in West Freeport is temporary anyway. I would expect come Sentinel's Fate the citadel will be flying again and the difference in zone geometry won't make a difference.

I just want access to all the new models I spend two months going through and categorizing- you know stuff like the armor below. These particular models already work, but there are dozens of new armor sets and creatures that I need the client bump to play with.

Wow, that is some interesting armor. I thought that was a half lizardman half aviak creature until I noticed the Kerra face under the helmet :)
