Steam and EQ2

Post by meatspin221 » Mon Dec 28, 2009 12:05 pm

It was noted by a community member that purchasing from steam is $19.99 now and not $4.99. Apparently buying it at $4.99 was a holiday promotion price.

Okay first off I searched to see if this is a repost and I didn't see it. If you would be so kind as to delete this post if it is a repost. That would be dandy.

Well I bought Eq2TSO off steam because it was 4dollars and I had nothing to lose. So I bought it, downloaded it, and it works!
So for those who don't want to get an actual box set. Here is how you can get it through steam.
[Step 1]
Download Steam of course : http://cdn.steampowered.com/download/SteamInstall.msi

[Step 2]
Once you have download steam, install it, run it, and use the search function under the "store" tab and search for "EverQuest" and you will see all the EverQuest related items they sell. Choose TSO or Kunark. I believe if you get TSO you get kunark as well.
Buy it through what ever method you like. They even take paypal.

[Step3]
After you have bought it, go back to the "my games" tab on steam and update it. Updating it on steam is not updating it through sony. Updating on steam just means "downloading the game" not actually updating the game so you cant play on the Test servers. Once it has downloaded you shouldn't have to even install it. But do not run it...

[Step 4]
Okay from here go to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common. In this folder you should see "everquest2".
From here you should go to c:\program files\. In your program files, create a folder called "Sony". Now go back to the other folder with EQ2 in it, and copy/paste the "everquest2" folder into your Sony folder you just created. And there you are. You can now follow this guide < http://www.eq2emulator.net/wiki/index.p ... To_Connect > on how to connect from here. Enjoy.

Side note, if you F** up something. the everquest2 folder (the original) is still in your steam. If you un install steam, it will delete that folder. so make sure you keep a backup if you uninstall steam.

Thank you for the tutorial, Dave! As with all others, I'll just lock it and if anyone has questions/comments, we can talk it out in 3rd-Party or something (keeping Tut's clean and easy on the eyes ;))
