Is it good to delete these every time before you play, or could it damage something eventually by doing so?

I don't see why not, it's just a cache, like a browser cache. I think the cache has the ability to rebuild and show characters on the login screen without a connection to the server somehow. I remember being able to see all of my guys from the real servers while on a repack server when I manually renamed all the login caches to account name "admin" before logging in (from a fresh copy of one of my backed up eq2 clients).

I have a batch file that I run to launch my eq2emu client.

Code: Select all

@echo off
rd cache /S /Q
del logincache-us\*.* /Q
del *crash*.log
start everquest2.exe
That's how I roll.

Good work John :) I was thinking of writing a program that does all that, but looks like you summed it all up into 5 lines :)

Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me...could it be because I'm running Vista?

If you have the game installed under Program Files, then yeah it's Vista and it's permissions.
You might try to run the batch file with Administrative permissions.

WOOT that works. Thanks Zcoretri. I didn't think that being the only user of my system, and being the Administrator, that I'd have to run programs as Administrator. :?
