Yeah, everyone please keep in mind, we develop on 1 server, and you test on another. This keeps you from experiencing as many crashes and reloads as WE do during development. Data is not transferred every day, but usually weekly.
A bug gets flagged Fixed so another developer doesn't see it open and go work on it. What I'm hoping to do eventually is give the bug back to the player who opened it, and they can determine if it is "closed" or not (which is why these forum posts came to be).
Thanks still for all the hard work finding our bugs. We got a lot, but we like that. Means people care

Giving the bug back to the player who submitted it is a very good idea. But if it's not possible yet maybe it's better to mark such bugs not as "Fixed" but as "Fixed on dev"?John Adams wrote:Yeah, everyone please keep in mind, we develop on 1 server, and you test on another. That would mean we'd need to update the bug twice, and we got too much to do as it is. Good suggestion though.
I'll see if I can't work out some form of feedback to the bug'er, though 1/2 the time the character that submitted the bug is deleted.

Perhaps you could mark the bug as "Retest", and put them in a separate thread so that anyone can browse through, pick a bug, test it, and report back verifying if it's fixed or not

Then it's better to link the bug to player's game login (which can be linked to forums login) and not to character name.

Re: BugID: 394 (Scatman) Wrong skill for collectables nodes
Game login is only linked to forum login if a) the player registered on the forum, which 90% of our players do not bother and thus have no forum login, and b) only if the game login account has been logged into since I updated the modules a month or so ago to link to forum login.
I appreciate the feedback, but there simply is not enough time to manage bugs here like it was a full-time job. No one wants this to be "work". We get to bugs, do our best, when we have time and get to it. I'm sorry if flagging a bug as "fixed" is confusing, but it'll just have to do for now.

Re: BugID: 394 (Scatman) Wrong skill for collectables nodes
Ok, out of some moral obligation I have to try and please everyone (grin), I have added the suggested "Fixed in Dev" bug status. I have also added a mechanism for me to toggle everything set from one status to another when it comes time to migrate the fixed data to the live server.
So from now on, if you see a bug flagged as "Fixed in Dev", it is NOT fixed on TessEQ2 yet. Give it a little while and when I move the data/scripts, I will switch the status to "Fixed" where you can then verify it.
I am still thinking out how to best inform the bug submitter about the change in status - but frankly, no one else seems to do this, so it's not a top priority... but I am eager, because I want EQ2Emulator to out-shine all those other teenie-bopper hacker emulator projects

Re: BugID: 394 (Scatman) Wrong skill for collectables nodes
Perhaps in a case like this, we could use something like the Reward System...you know, when you have an account for a certain amount of days, you have the opportunity to do /claim and pick an item for your characters on that account.
You have submitted a bug, type /bugclaim for more details....
Everyone who logs onto the Emu has to have some kind of account. Perhaps it can be linked through the login server? However, this won't work for people who log into game, submit a bug, log out, and then not come back for a few months.
