Gobble Gibber Gabber Dabber Nabber Rabber Gamblin' Game

Post by Scatman » Mon Jan 25, 2010 4:01 pm

I've implemented this on the emu today. You'll find 3 variables to set in the `variables` table of your database.

Code: Select all

gambling_current_jackpot
gambling_token_item_id
gambling_winning_numbers
The gambling_current_jackpot and gambling_winning_numbers will set themselves if they are not set but without gambling_token_item_id set, the lotto will not proceed. Also, you want to give your spawn who runs the lottery an entity command that runs the 'lotto' command.

Lastly, does anyone know what actually happens when a player wins the lottery? As of right now I just have the server sending a global announcement to the server praising the winner.

EDIT
Forgot this. You'll want the merchant type in the spawns table to inlclude 32.

I've never had the fortune of winning the jackpot on live, but I've also never seen a message sent out indicating someone had won. I think they may avoid doing that just to keep the winner from getting spammed with tells asking for money. Of course there is the normal shower of coins effect happens anytime you win any amount of money. To the best of my knowledge the book beside the gamblin' goblin is only place that shows who the most recent winner is. Hope this helps.

Ya true but I thought it'd be cool to praise that person on spot (anyone who would /t me begging me for money i'd just tell them to fuck off). What do you guys think though?

I'd tell them to go fly a kite...then fuck off

For the Emulator though, that sounds cool to have a server wide announcement.

But only on the really high payouts...it would be annoying to see Joe Blow won 10s every 5 mins :)

Well one thing I've noticed on live when winning different amounts, is the "coin shower" animation that surrounds the player. I've won from I believe 10 silver (win what you just paid) up to I believe around 10 gp, can't remember can try later for it. But basically the "coin shower" animation was bigger and had more coins falling over the player when I won the higher amount. Now, as for the jack-pot, I have never seen anyone win it so I don't know how that won works. But, if the "coin shower" is based on amount won, and other players near you can witness you winning, that could show them roughly how well you are doing.

For me though, I tried the gambler goblin but kept getting a "Not enough room in my inventory" message when trying to use it. But, I'll jump on live and take some snap-shots if possible to show winning.

The coin shower increases in size (amount of coins falling) based on the amount of numbers you matched. It's not doing that?

Actually for me I can't get the Gobble Gibber Gabber Dabber Nabber Rabber Gamblin' Game guy to do anything. I keep getting a message in my chat window stating I don't have enough room in my inventory.

Clive, I know this is an obvious questions, but are all your inventory slots full?

Nope, I had I believe 4 empty slots, and both backpacks I started with are not even half-way full. That was the first thing I looked at thinking "Oh god, just made a newb mistake", but turns out I am in the clear on that one :P Will test it more later tonight though, could be issues which just me not doing something right, clicking wrong, or right click instead of left click, etc.

I think Scatman figured it out. Do you know if your toon had any Coin? The tokens cost 10s each, and while every new char on Tess should be granted 1000pp on create, I think the char create code is wiping out my default values (fixing that one now).

Scatman thinks there is a bad message being sent; should be "you have no coin" not "you have no room". Try it again, I gave you 1000pp to play with.

Ok will do that right now, one moment:

Ok I'm thinking Scat was right on the "message" I was getting, because now it works. Thanks for clearing that one up for me guys!

It's fixed in the latest on SVN. Thanks for finding that bug and reporting it!
