Still trying to get a server running

Hello again. I'm still trying to get this server running for my husband in Iraq. Once again, he will not have an internet connection, so whatever I download will need to be completely supported on his pc. Anyway, I think I need to start at square one. I will be purchasing EQ2 all over again as all of my expansion purchases previously were downloaded. I'm going to be getting a box set with Desert of Flames, Kingdom of Sky, Echoes of Faydwer, Rise of Kunark, and The Shadow Odyssey. That's okay right?
Thanks in advance for all of your patience.

The Shadow Odyssey is the latest box set supported. As long as you don't update it when you install it, everything should run smoothly.

If you have the TSO box set, the ServerPack that is posted should work with it without a problem.
I've been struggling (for weeks) to get the ServerPack to work with the latest client(s), but no luck. Something is not working between our current World and the Minilogin system, and I cannot even figure out what's broken so I can post requesting a fix

Ok, so I got the TSO box set and installed it. I opened up the 3 dos programs that I have in the eq2emulator-serverpack folder: mysql-apache, worldserver, loginserver. I changed the address in the ini file that's in my eq2 folder to 127.0.0.1 and attempted to log in with admin/admin and I still got the login rejected/version error message. I don't know where to find what version I have. I went to the properties of the everquest2 application file, but it wasn't there. I didn't path though after the clean install from the box set. On a side note, provided I can get this working, I still am not sure how to get the database and/or anything else (if I'm supposed to update) that I'm supposed to update from the website.
Any tips, please??
Hmmm I was just looking at the loginworld screen and noticed that it was saying:
9713 new server connection 127.0.0.1 port: 16832
102441 removing client from blah blah port 49895
(then goes through removing clients but also says error bad version 994)
Not sure what that means.
I just want to recap here. I did a complete fresh install of eq2 right out of the box and have not patched at all. I also did a fresh download of the serverpack. I ran MySQL+Apache, LoginServer and WorldServer. Then I ran the Everquest2 app file and typed in Admin/Admin. Then I got the server error. Any help with this would be so very much appreciated. Hubby asks how it's going getting this set up every time I talk to him. =/
Thanks again!

Bump! Hey guys, really sorry to be a pain to include the PM's that I've sent that haven't gotten responded to. I don't blame you for not responding really, especially if everyone on the board PM's every time they have a problem. I just didn't see any activity on the board for like a week. Now I see peeps talking again, but I still am at a loss at to how to fix my issue. Any help at all would be so appreciated. Every time I talk to the hubby on the phone he asks me if I've gotten it fixed yet. =-(

Well, this is still over my head I guess. How can I have a bad version? I installed directly from the discs and have not patched. Do I need to buy another box set and try again?

Are you running Vista or Windows 7? If so, you can't get the version from file properties (which pisses me off to no end by the way)
Run the EverQuest2.exe file in windowed mode, in the caption bar there it will look similar to this
EverQuest II (Sep 28 2007 01:32:19) USER OPTIMIZED:
SOEBuild=4412
the part in red is the version number we are concerned about.

Hi Zcoretri! It says 5848. I've ran it in windowed mode I don't know how many times to get the build to show up, and wouldn't you know tonight it works lol.

5848? That is the problem right there, 5848 came out around August 2009, well after TSO.
And you said you installed from The Shadow Odyssey boxed set dvd's? Only thing I can think of is SOE refreshed the installation dvd's
The first TSO version should be like 5040 I think. This the is the only expansion I don't have installation disks for, so I cannot confirm what the version actually is

Well, hmmph. What do you suggest? I can't really afford to randomly buy a bunch of box sets in hopes that I get one that works. Do I need to go to a previous expansion box set? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and when you say minilogin, what exactly do you mean? Is that something I need if I'm running my own "server" yet I'm the only one playing on it? I downloaded the serverpack and followed the instructions and I don't see anything in the adminguide thing or the serverpack about using 'minilogin".

Ok, so I purchased another box set. Finally got it in today. I completely uninstalled and deleted eq2 from the laptop and reinstalled using the box set disks. I started up MySQL+Apache, LoginServer, WorldServer. Then I started EQ2 using the EverQuest2 app. I started it in Windowed mode and took note of the build: 3554. Typed in admin/admin and I'm still getting the "Login rejected: The client's version does not match the server's. Please re-run the patcher."
The date on the everquest.exe file is 10/2006
Any more ideas please anyone?

What client was that? I believe that client is too old. We only support Ruins of Kunark and Shadow Odyssey box sets at the moment.

Are you buying these boxed sets off of ebay or something? That build is before this project started to get going again.
