Hello all.

I just stumbled onto this site and I'm kinda thrilled.

I see that you need a specific client build. What i have is the original 10 cd box set from when the game first went live.

I haven't subscribed to the SoE servers now since 2008. I may have purchased an expansion but through digital install. I have since upgraded my system and would need to reinstall. How can i bring my original client up to the current supported build?

Thanks in advance

Unless you purchase a more recent box set (TSO or SF), you will not be able to play on an EQ2Emulator server. The furthest back client we support is the RoK box, and that has reached it's end of life here after SF came out. Still works, just not entirely.

Given that, SF client is not quite ready for players yet either. But it is an expansion box set you can purchase with the expectation of EQ2Emulator utilizing it very soon.

Thanks for the reply John.

But I'm kinda baffled with that hehe. Your telling me in essence it would be cheaper for me to resubscribe for 3 months with SOE on a fully working code then it would be for me to play here in a non functioning game? I really don't want to go out and dump a bunch of cash on 10 or so expansions.
So there is no way for me to patch my original game to work here? because if i need to go spend cash what is the point of this? Don't get me wrong i'm not complaining, just a little confused. I'm just the type of MMO player that plays many MMO's but only subscribes to any one for no more than 2 -3 months at once.
So i'm thinking i will just resubscribe to play a few months with the game i have at hand.

Thanks again!

You aren't very familiar with emulator's are you? Emulator's always require you to buy the software. As for buying 10 or so expansions... that is nonsense. EQ2 only has 6 expansions and when you buy Sentinel's Fate it includes everything for the price of $30.

The emulator's purpose is not to steal people from playing on live. Running with that mentality is a sure fire way to be shut down. If I had my way I would require everyone always buy the newest box set in order to play. After all, without SoE or EQ2 we wouldn't exist.

You cannot play on an EQ2 Live (SOE) server either without getting patched to current. Not sure why that is even slightly confusing.

Good luck.
