Going to be straight and to the point. I am completely lost :? on this whole thing. Am I doing this to join another server or making my own server? I quit Everquest 2 because I didn't get along with "all" the players and it costed freakin' too much money. Mostly the money part.

lol. Anyways, it's whatever you want to do. Play on TessEQ2 (or someone elses) or if you really want to, start your own server.

It's ok you can laugh. Lol. Anyway, how do I start my own server? I like to create things. The only thing I saw on here was a Player's Guide.

Also, I have been poking around the forums and it says I need MySQL and zlib. I got the zlib source code (I am assuming I am right). I went to the MySQL website and it has a whole bunch of selections; MySQL Community Server, MySQL Cluster, MySQL Workbench, and MySQL Connectors. Don't know which ones to get. I know I am new, but be patient with me here.

Read over this and let us know if you still have any questions:

You want the MySQL server.

Ok, I did fine until I got to 7.2 on the tutorial. I have MySQL server 5.1 and MySQL Workbench 5.2 OSS. I don't see anything that says tools.

I think I figured out where I went wrong. The person on the page was using HeidiSQL instead of what I got. What I saw is you do not click on tools to create database. You right click on your root. Then, select create new on the menu that pops up. Database pops up next to create new.

Yeah the workbench won't let you view/insert/manipulate actual data. It's a tool used to create/view database schema (the tables, columns, etc).

Am I suppose to be getting something from this link? https://eq2emulator.svn.sourceforge.net ... 2emulator/
If so, what and how? It would be nice to have world_db.ini. Think it is kind of obvious that I have finally reached step 8 at this point. Lol!

Yep. Grab the whole Configs folder.

How about I grab everything except the 64-bit stuff because I only have some of the stuff on my computer. :-P
Do I need the source files? I got everything else manually.

I am getting this message now. SQL Error (2003): Can't connect to MySQL server on '[whatever ip I put in]' (10061). I know I am somewhat slow on this, but I have been somewhat busy lately.

I ran EQ2World and it did nothing for awhile. I couldn't see the error message, so I ran it in the command prompt afterwards. The error is this, [Error] Failed to connect to database: Error #2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on '75.60.219.213' <10060>

Did you see this post ? There's instructions in it and even though I know nothing about using SQL or PHP, it just worked.
