I (think) I have re-set up the IRC here, though there are some issues with it. Seems I am having trouble with a runaway process with Unreal IRC that eats up all my CPU on my web host box, causing all my websites to die. So, while I am offering IRC to this project on my boxes, know that it will be up and down til I sort out what the problem is.

Just had to re-register all the channels since no one is using iRC anymore... so our OPs are back to being plebes.

If anyone knows how to set up a Bot that can sit on both channels to keep them alive, please let me know. Setting up these security's every couple weeks is getting old.

Just scoured the internet for easy bots that obey easy commands, and I think you can program them to just say things every now and again, or run some basic scripts that in a roundabout way keep the channel running.

Not sure how much I can do from my end, or how reliable anything I do via IRC will be.

Let me put a few "common sense" concepts out here.

IRC is not your personal support line. You cannot connect, ask a question then disconnect immediately because no one answered you in a timely fashion. That is rather pointless. We are not camped out on IRC 24x7. Ask your question, stay connected long enough for someone to see it and provide an answer. That's how it works, in any community.

IRC costs you nothing to leave running. Open it, sign in, ask your question, and minimize the app. Then, check it later to see if your answer has come up.


Lastly, if you do not get a response via IRC in the time you think you should, do not PM me or the other devs for personal attention. Your PMs will be deleted. You have a question that you took the time to come here and PM about? Post it publicly so we can answer for all - because your answer might just help others, too.
