Hanging EverQuest2.exe Client - Fix

This post is regarding the configuration of eq2_default.ini. This information may have been posted someplace on these forums already, but a few searches provided no results. I thought this information may be useful to some who may, or may not be having a problem with the EverQuest2.exe client hanging on startup. This happens even after editing the cl_ls_address field in eq2_default.ini to include the public or private IP addresses. I should mention that this issue came from installing a retail box of Sentinel’s Fate and may not even come packaged with all retail versions. After searching through endless forum topics without an answer I ended up running netstat –f while EverQuest2.exe was running. The results showed that it was connecting to the login server and port, but it also showed that it was trying to connect to cl_resource_address http://sdt-devpatch.station.sony.com/pa ... sets/daily which is also found in eq2_default.ini. The EverQuest2.exe hangs because it sends out a SYN packet to the server which never responds. Simply deleting the entire line will allow EverQuest2.exe to continue making its connection and the problem is solved.

Oh, did we forget to mention that? Yes, as of the SF client(s), there is a second URL to SOE that should be removed :)

I had no idea it hung up the client, I just removed it because I don't want any "daily" checks of my assets.
