Server within a Lan

Post by masterblaster » Sun Nov 18, 2007 8:07 am

I have the world.exe running on computer #1 and the game(client) on a different computer #2. When I log on without the "world.exe" running on computer #1, no problems. But once I bring up the "world.exe" on the other computer #2, I get a fatal error in Clientnet.cpp on computer #2 and the client crashes when I try to log in.
It worked once, I logged in and created a character and all, and I even saw my server on the list of servers. But when I tried to enter the server the client crashed. I restarted the client and then it wont even get to the server selection screen before crashing (clientnet.cpp).
I've checked everything and it all seems ok, even reloaded the client right from the box with a virgin computer #3. same issue.
It seems there must be some port conflicts somewhere between the client and the server. I have port 9000 and 9100 directed to the server computer and none others. Is there any I missed?

Can you explain the error in a little more detail? The emu doesn't have a file called Clientnet.cpp. Is that an error that the client pops up and gives? Are you running a version you compiled yourself? If so what compiler did you use?

Yes its a client error. Didn't recompile, just used the posted win-binaries. I've ran other emulators, eqemu, wowemu, mangos etc, I didn't think the client interferred with the server though the lan system, at least till it logged to the server.

What is the error and what version of the emu and clients are you using?
