Problem logging character in

Hello everyone

So I have the DB sourced, patched and running smoothly it seems.
I created a character just fine (using TSO retail box btw).
However, when I try to log in it immediately drops me to login with the following error:

Code: Select all

20:34:31 I World: Connected to LoginServer: 127.0.0.1: 9100
20:37:01 I ZoneAuth: Access Key: 1359261420, Character Name: Tyyl, Account ID: 1
20:37:01 I Zone: Loading new Zone 'GreaterFaydark'
20:37:01 E World: Incompatible version: 908
20:37:01 I World: Removing client from ip: 127.0.0.1 port: 51359
20:37:02 I Spawn: Loaded for zone 'GreaterFaydark' (114):
	3354 NPC(s), 515 Object(s), 94 Widget(s)
	134 Sign(s), 746 Ground Spawn(s), 0 Spawn Group(s)
	0 Spawn Group Association(s), 0 Spawn Group Chance(s)
And then the worldserver.exe crashes

Any ideas?

So I found the post relating to the sourceforge compile (was using the one from the svn - assumed it would work).

Now it world crashes on the zone being created.
Here it is fine

Code: Select all

[20130126 20:58:41] Adding new client...
[20130126 20:58:41] ZoneAuth: Access Key: 1359262720, Character Name: Tyyl, Account ID: 1

	0 Spawn Group Association(s), 0 Spawn Group Chance(s)
World crashes. Error log says.

Code: Select all

Well I deleted DB. Sourced DB from SVN.
Created emu folder using complete windows binaries from SVN
Deleted world Server exe from SVN - replaced it with the one from sourceforge
and then ran it and let the sourceforge file update db...now all works as intended

Thank you for the help. Getting so excited that I'm this close.

BTW I wanted to test if my client was the problem, but I can log into the "official eq2 emu" server just fine.

I really want to get my own server running though as my internet connection is spotty at best.

That looks like a RoK client...not TSO, and that RoK client is buggy as hell.

Its weird that you say that because when I logged in the splash screen says RoK, but I own the discs and they are printed with TSO.
I'm reinstalling as we speak because as it stands I can't be logged in for more than a minute or two before the client crashes with no errors in the consoles.

Hehe and reading your post made me nervous so I alt-tabbed back to the install and sure enough it is installing TSO like I thought. Maybe I did something in all the fiddling I was doing trying to get it to work the last several hours.

If you are running a client 7628L or older and still having problems try the server pack. Everything you need in 1 zip file.

I looked at the pack but it isnt really for me. I am pretty familiar with sql and client/servers. I helped work on eq emu for a bit and last was helping blueboy work on the bot ai code for the wow 3.3.5 server.
I have just been messing with those until this emu was in a workable state. EQ2 was always my favorite mmo, but being a married man my schedule works better with emus because I can do things on my own time table.

I would like to start adding content (eq2 live like). I was the kind of player that level locked a lot. Just spending time at whatever level I was, so wouldn't mine level locking my char and adding quests progressively by level.

What is weird to me is that I have the TSO discs installed but when I go to run Everquest2.exe the load screen says Rise of Kunark.

And the client keeps crashing.

Im so confused about what is going on.

I downloaded the dev db and 0.7.2-dev exes. Will work on them tomorrow. Apparently I hit my download limit on the updater.

After looking again, you are right...that is the TSO boxed client, but it has the RoK splash screen when starting up.

I seemed to remember that client 5040 was buggy as hell, always crashing as you have noticed, so we were using client 5097L to develop the emu back then
